Title: Jeff Fisher - Fired
Post by: Moranis on December 12, 2016, 03:58:51 PM
They almost did in the offseason, but wanted Fisher to help transition the team to L.A.  I guess a 4-9 record wasn't what they had in mind especially after selling the farm to move to draft Goff who has only recently played at all.

Hadn't they just given him an extension? Kind of interesting that their running back made comments that they played like a middle school team after yesterday's game. My biggest question would be why now with 3 games left in the season?

Thank goodness.  There is literally no coach in the league who deserved firing more than Fisher.

My guess is they want someone that will just go all in on playing the young guys and building for the future.  They also might want to get a look at John Fassel to see if he might be the coach of the future (he is longtime NFL coach Jim Fassel's son).

or maybe they just didn't want Fisher to pick up loss 166 which would be a NFL record.  He is currently tied for last with Dan Reeves.

About time. That guy is some type of genius for holding onto his job despite being a loser.

It would be pretty funny if Fisher asked them to fire him for this reason.

Not to defend Fisher too much, but Les Snead didn't exactly give him a team that was expected to have positive results. Besides Gurley, their offense is terrible. Thinking back to a lot of Fisher's teams, I never thought they were the best, including the Titans that lost in the SB.

I agree that he shouldn't have had so many chances after many losing seasons, but would you honestly expect a coach (not named Bill) to win more games with the same teams?

Get a jump on hiring the next coach.

If that's not the worst run organization in the NFL right now, its certainly in the top 3 (or is it bottom 3?)  That top 5 pick they're getting in this upcoming draft?  Heading to TEN.

Rams should've cut bait with him about two years ago.

7-8-1, 7-9, 6-10, 7-9, & now 4-9.

That's the best part of this entire thing.
