I’m fine bringing him back.

Serviceable, cheap, and seems to enjoy it here.

I'll be very happy to see Theis back. If he can stick the 3 for a decent percentage I think he'll be a big help. With Horford and Morris gone there are real minutes and shots available at the 4 and 5 positions for somebody. I expect Theis, Ojeleye, and GWilliams to compete aggressively.

As for those dismissing Theis; I think Yabusele is the guy who's salary and roster spot are no longer justified. Time to move him, maybe with a 2nd conditional and some cash, into someone else's cap space. Boston needs the 3M for other things.

Great.

I like theis.

He can backup the 4 or 5. Good guy to bring back.

Assuming no magic happens to preserve the full mle then the bigman rotation next season is.

Tatum/williams/yabusele
Looney?/Theis/williams3

I am ok with that.
I'm not.  Celtics need a LEGITIMATE NBA STARTING CENTER in the East to defend against Embiid, Gasol, Vucevic etc.

Of course they do, but they also need a back up big and Theis can fill that role. In fact keeping Theis would allow them to focus on getting that starting big they need. The Celts will have very little cap space  once they sign Kemba, so the only way to add players after that is with trades and exceptions. They have a cap hold for Theis so they can sign him. This is a good move.

Beggers can't be choosers. He fills a hole as a backup center who knows the system and he's cheap. Even if Williams shows any type of growth, (fingers crossed) we'll still need a legit center.

Robin Lopez, Nerlins Noel type.
