Other than the time they had Doc on talking to all the ex Celts I don't recall anything interesting happening during this segment.

KG doesn't seem good for TV to me

Just now. They just talked about cars or tires or something and there was some guy I never heard of. What the heck was that?

Just for Celtics fans only, KG making this a show.

If only this was on ESPN he'd be a better show than those pathetic "expert" ANALysts who likes to talk down on Boston sports teams ;D ;D ;D ::)

I don't like it either.

It has a few good moments but they only happen around 10% of the time. Too much filler involved in the show. KG not a good presenter either.

KG seems a tad uncomfortable in front of the camera to me

KG is just way too intense for TV. Every time he talks I blanch. I admire him as a player, but I don't like him on TV. He's so dominant it seems like all the guests are kissing his butt - at least a little. He would probably do well selling securities or as a corporate lobbyist.

Interesting to think that the most powerful personalities can be too big for TV.

I agree. Off camera he seems way better from clips I have watched.

The "Players Only" stuff bugs me more.   Those broadcasts are horrific.

Area21 is just unconventional, off the cuff TV.  I can certainly see how its not for everyone.

Kevin Garnett and Rod Strickland debate about who will attempt the game-winning shot while watching the ending of the Celtics' eventual win against the Thunder.

The entire TNT basketball presentation is TURRUBLE. I refuse to watch it as no part of that broadcast is enjoyable for me.

Maybe my green glasses are too thick to appreciate it.
ok fine

What does players only mean? Do they mean no broadcasters who didn’t play the game?  What’s the point and isn’t that discrimination?

Its how you get Caron Butler bumbling over all his words whilst doing the first sideline report last night.  That was atrocious!

It's not until watching those did I realize the importance of the standard dynamics of a broadcast team, which is 1 play-by-play person, and 1-2 color commentators.  With the Players Only broadcasts, it's just 3 color commentators (though technically according to wikipedia, Greg Anthony and Brent Barry are the designated play-by-play person).  Because of the lack of a true play-by-play person, there's alot of awkward silences followed by multiple people speaking up at the same time, just an overall terrible flow.

It's amazing how you don't even notice how guys like Mike Gorman, Kevin Harlan, Mike Breen, etc. carry a broadcast until they're not there.  If the C's decided to do that, could you imagine a broadcast that was just Tommy and Scal and/or Max?

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Yeah, it's really bad without a true play by play guy.

This is an idea that should be screwed around with at the local or regional tv level.  Not on national telecasts.
