Those who keep trying to pretend that Rondo plays with intensity and aggressiveness every single game only have to point to the last two. From Scrub to Superstar based on effort alone. I'm not sure if I am more frustrated with that or giving up that lead and going down 2-0 and basically ending our season...

Man that player is frustrating...

Rondo's effort in the first game was fine. If the rest of the team had played that hard they'd have won.

Maybe you should just be happy he turns it on when it matters the most. It's hard to get jacked up for a February game against the Bobcats.

WOW! BballTim... You a usually pretty on with your comments, but how anyone can look at game one and then game 2 where he clearly gave it all he had just baffles me! Scrub to Superstar is very accurate.

Like game one of the eastern conference finals?! sounds like the definition of "when it matters most". Had he brought that effort in game one we had a great shot at that game.

16/9/7 isn't the stat line you get from a scrub, so I don't know about accurate. But Rondo's effort was there in game 1, just not the scoring results. I was watching the second half of the first game and Rondo was running around trying to make plays on both ends of the court and was pretty much the only player doing that.

ok ....RA turns it on and off, KG turns it on and off....oh, yeah....PP turns it on and off.   They all want to win and do the best they can, IMO. I absolutely do not believe any of them "turn it off"!

Are you serious OP? After that game all you can do is make a thread taking shots at Rondo??

Ridiculous.

How in the world do you criticize Rondo after the game he just had?

I've been critical of Rondo from time to time, but come on.  I don't have a negative thing to say about him tonight.  He gave everything he had.

OP is completely right about this.

All the Rondo defenders need to take a break and just listen to the point that is being made:

*Nobody is saying that Rondo is bad.

*Rondo is a great player when he plays at his best.

*He doesn't always play at the top level.

*If he did play at the top level more consistently he'd be one of the 5 best players in the game.

*On ANY given night he can/has outplayed the NBA's greatest superstars.

*On any given night Rondo can also be outplayed by mediocre point guards who barely deserve to be starters.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Rondo is a mercurial player under great pressure and scrutiny. He's also young still, just entering his prime. These games don't make me look at the bad ones and despair, they make me look at the future with hope.

I don't think Rondo can 'turn it on and off', I think he either is or he isn't on or off. And, as he gets older, he seems to have more 'on' games each year. In a year, two, let's see how many off games he has.

Nobody in the league plays their best every night.  You guys are using a 16/9/7 game to try to prove that he was horrible.  Yes, game one was a subpar game for Rondo, but it was a good game by most NBA players' standards.

It wasn't a subpar game because he wasn't trying.

Of course, now if he ever gets less than 40 in a game, it will be because he's dogging it.

Rondo just went out and just put up 44/10/8 with 3 steals. Has had three triple doubles this playoffs, and almost had on in game 1 which was apparently a horrid performance.

It's just ridiculous, the persistent criticism.
