Garnett certainly looks more confident out there these days.  He's slowed down athletically but he looks much comfortable on the court than last season.

Yup...I loved his attempt to try and put back Pierce's missed 3 last night...he missed it..but he looked confident and explosive on that play...two things that were missing last year.

Why am I shocked that NBA officiating has gotten progressively worse? These guys are clueless.

I like Rondo posting up. I'm surprised he doesn't go right to the hole whenever he has the ball on fastbreaks though, he has a huge advantage over Sessions or any other Cavalier...

Eager to see what JO does on the court, especially on offense. His airball was atrocious :-X

Post Rondo all day and all night against Daniel Gibson. He'll score 60-70% of the time or he'll get someone else a wide open jump shot.

No way Gibson can defend Rondo in the post.

Cavs are playing surprisingly well right now.  Celtics look a bit sluggish but the fact that they're still in the lead makes me feel pretty good longterm for the game.

I don't think a lot of PG's could defend it anyway.. You just don't see many guards working on their post defense over the summer.

So when it's thrown at them, they have no idea what to do.

Baby Clutch
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Yeah, a lot of them don't know how and Rondo is particularly difficult cover before his quickness. Most PGs use their size/strength to muscle someone down, like Andre Miller or Jason Kidd used to, but, Rondo relies on that explosive quickness of his. He likes being physical too, aggressive. Very unusual for opposing PGs to be matched up against a post threat of that nature.

Physical and explosive quickness is a terrific combination in the paint.

And Gibson ... Gibson's defense is weak + he's not at all comfortable with physical play. Never has been. He gets destroyed every time he's switched onto a bigger player. Doesn't even put a fight. There is no way he's going to be able to defend the post.

----------------------------------------------

Rondo's quickness -- when he faces up from 10 feet in under, he is one dribble from the rim and with his explosiveness there is no way that the defender can stay in front of him. When he puts his back to the basket and then starts spinning, trying to get around his man, there is no way the defender can beat him to the spot. Rondo can get around his man with great consistency down in the paint.

Put him against a bigger PG defender like a J-Kidd. It's not about strength. It's about denying Rondo the spin and beating him to the spot. Kidd, more often than not, won't be able to do that. He has enough strength to fight the back down but not the spin.

You put him against a bigger guy like Kobe, even Kobe will have trouble stopping Rondo from getting to where he want ... Kobe's best shot at denying the scoring opportunity is on the shot when he tries to block it. Either by blocking it, altering it or intimidating Rondo to the point he doesn't take.
