Heres a idea that would work for both teams...

Celtics Get:

Mike James (Expiring Contract)
Brendan Haywood (Expiring Contract)
DeShawn Stevenson (2 yrs)
Andray Blatche (3 yrs)
5th Pick in the 2009 NBA Draft (Harden or Evans)

Wizards Get:

Ray Allen (Expiring Contract)
JR Giddens (Rookie Deal)
Future 1st Round Pick

Here is why it makes sense for the Celts. The Celtics can trade Ray and still get good compensation for him. Almost every player they would get back would serve a purpose for the team, both long term and short term. Both James and Haywood would be good backups for Rondo and Perk and if they somehow dont work out, they are on expiring contracts. Then Stevenson has experience starting for playoff teams and would be ok for a year or 2 until the draft pick is ready to step in. Finally, Blatche would give the Celts a young big to develope and ease the blow of losing Glen Davis.

Now for why this would be good for the Wizards. First, they get a future hall of famer who still shows he has game. He could step right into the starting lineup and give Washington one of the best starting fives in the NBA. He has Finals experience and would take the scoring pressure of Arenas, Butler and Jamison. Plus he himself is on an expiring deal and would give the Wizards a lot more cap room in the future if they choose not to resign him. As for Giddens, he basically is just a throw in who maybe could help down the line.

Possible Lineups:

Bos:

PG: Rondo
SG: Stevenson
SF: Pierce
PF: Garnett
C:  Perkins

Bench:

PG: James/ House
SG: Harden or Evans/ T. Allen (If he's not traded)
SF: Walker
PF: Blatche/ Powe/ Scalabrine (If he's not traded)
C:  Haywood

Washingon:

PG: Arenas
SG: Allen
SF: Butler
PF: Jamison
C:  McGee

Bench:

PG: Crittenton
SG: Young
SF: McGuire
PF: Songalia
C:  E. Thomas

I don't want anything from the Wizards that doesn't include McGee or Butler.  Including the #5 pick.
God bless and good night!

I'd be happy with Haywood and the #5 pick.  Don't underestimate Haywood, that guy is great...

... exactly why the warriors wouldn't trade him.

I'd rather have expiring contracts than have Stevenson and/or Blatche.

Haywood is a very nice player.

I would definitely do this trade.

We'd fill all the major holes and still have the MLE, LLE, and Scal and TA's expiring contracts to work with.

No way does Washington give up their starting center and first big off the bench.  The're left with Thomas (worthless) and McGee (high upside with lot's of questions...very young). That said, basically, Blatche and the 5th pick for Ray and JR...do it in a heart beat.

Kevin Garnett would eat Andray Blatche alive.

Stevenson would be a nice player to aquire as a defensive minded backup off the bench (though he had a HORRIBLE year last year so Id be careful)

I'd love to have Haywood.

I really would not want to deal Ray to the Wiz unless Im getting a prime time player in return, which would most logically be Jamison, since I really doubt the Wiz would deal Butler.  I wouldnt touch Gilbert Arenas with a 10 foot pole.

The Wiz do not do this trade.  In DC, we heard last year was how much they miss Haywood in the middle.  They are not going to trade him right now.

I also do not like this trade for the Celtics since they is no replacement for Ray and no great 6th man that could eventual become a starter.

  • Rondo = Good

Mmm...and then he would be rejuvenated into a 5-years-younger version of himself.
