Just head it on Comcast. I guess Pedroia is going to be playing SS .

I like Scutaro but I'm not crazy about moving Pedroia to SS.

I'm not worried about Pedroia at SS ... the guy can play almost any position with expertise ... he's amazing.

Scutaro is a better SS than Pedroia is and Pedroia is a better 2B than Scutaro is. I seriously doubt Tito has Pedroia at short and Scutaro at 2B come Opening Day.

Here's a piece from Boston.com

Quote
Stay where you are, Dustin Pedroia. The revolving door has spit out another shortstop for the Red Sox.

Marco Scutaro has agreed to a two-year deal with an option and needs only to pass a physical for everything to be official.

Once the Sox received a first-round pick as compensation for losing free agent Billy Wagner to the Atlanta Braves, they were willing to give up their pick as compensation to Toronto for signing Scutaro.

Scutaro had the best season of his career in 2009, putting up .282/.379/.409 numbers. He had career highs in runs (100), homers (12), doubles (35), steals (14) and matched his career high with 60 RBI.

Scutaro has experience at second base and in the outfield but was a shortstop for the Blue Jays last season and played the position fairly well. He turned 34 in October. Scutaro came up with the Mets and played for Oakland before joining the Blue Jays for the 2008 season in a trade.

The Sox and Blue Jays essentially switched shortstops as Toronto signed Alex Gonzalez last month.

It's amazing how many SS this team has had since Nomar.  No continuity at all.

By the way this was like the only good offensive year Scutaro ever had. When he flops offensively next year and starts making Jason Varitek's offensive numbers look good, let it be known that you heard it here first that you would be complaining like crazy about this guy's bat.

My guess is his numbers next year when all is said and done will look like

.255 BA, 6 HRs, 40 RBIs, 4 SBs, 110 hits, .330 OBP, .365 SLG.

Yeah, dont like this move. A 34 year old with a career .720 OPS, coming off his only above average season. Giving up a first rounder for a guy who likely will be average at best is stupid, atleast we got the 20th pick for Wagner to kinda make up for it.

Don't like this move at all.  Would almost rather go with the Lowrie/Green combo for now until we found something better.   I don't want to be tied down with this guy for a couple years.

Every time i see Marco Scutaro i think "boy i wish he was on the Red Sox"

... so i disagree with you.

Plus he's top 10 in the league for Bases on Balls, and Sac Flies. That's perfect for someone who's gonna be hitting behind

Ellsbury
Pedroia
Youkilis
(Bay or somebody else)
Martinez
Ortiz
Lowell (or somebody else)
Drew

First year he played a full season at exclusively one position, not just a utility guy.  I guarantee he will not make Jason Varitek's #s look good, even your pathetic prediction is better than that.

Not sure how his offense will be because he has only had one good year in his career...but im happy about this signing...he is good defensively and im much happier doing this then having pedroia have to play ss. i think this is the best move the sox's could have done in this situation
