Since Ainge and Stevens don't value big men.
The one trade that may help us if the Cavs are tanking.
Horford to Cavs - he will opt out at the end of the year because he will not want to remain with Cavs but it moves that contract off the Celtics.
Thompson and Korver to Celtics - this fills 2 needs. TT is a hustler, great rebounder and screen setter. Korver comes off the bench with Hayward.
Kyrie
Smart
Tatum
Morris
Thompson
Rozier
Brown
Korver
Hayward
Baynes

No to Thompson.
Korver (or another pure shooter who can move without the ball) would be a welcome addition. I wonder if we could move Rozier for a shooter, or just wait for buyouts to start and use the MLE on one.
-
Although probably not possible I’d love to get Love. He’d be masterful in Stevens offense.
-
Did we really just propose a trade of Al Horford, a five time All Star, for Tristan Thompson and a mid-thirties Kyle Korver?!
(That said, I do think Korver would be a good addition for us off the bench.)
-
Yes, because when Horford opts in on his $30M deal next year then what??. I doubt he opts out for a long term deal.
Why not get rid of that salary to a team that will want the cap room?
TT doesnt require the ball to be effective, that's our problem now too many guys want the ball and no one wants to do any dirty work.

"because ainge and Stevens don't value big men"
This really says a lot about your understanding of how the Celts have played ball during the tenure of Ainge and Stevens.
-
Well name the bigs that have really been good? Stevens loves small ball...playing Crowder, Turner and Tatum at 4. Horford at 5 and now not playing William's when his skills are what we need. We always have a gluttony of guards and forwards.
Name one big man that the Celtics under Ainge and Steven's have developed? I will wait....queue the jeopardy music.
-
No.... Horford is the foundation of this team on defense and is a great all around big for us.
Rozier for a shooter... ok I'd consider a trade like that straight up.
We should look for young up and coming scorers like Josh Richardson from Miami for instance.

an all-star for two role players...
no thanks

Al Horford is not an All Star anymore. The only reason he got voted in last year was because of the team's record. Centers like Embiid, Vucevic, Drummond, Sabonis, Kanter, Whiteside and Ibaka (this season) are all better than Horford.

Embiid is the only one that is better.
Others are not even close as all of them have critical weakness for teams to exploit in playoffs.

lol
This team sucks right now but come on, I think this trade idea sucks more.
Trade Rozier for Korver and picks maybe, but not Al.
-
I doubt they trade with us after the IT debacle,

You sure it wasn't because he was averaging 13/8/5, shooting 43% from 3PT and anchoring the league's best defense? Meanwhile Kanter is coming off the bench for the Knicks, because he can't shoot, pass or defend. Yeah, Embiid is better, but let's not get crazy.

Considering how bad Cavs management is, I would do a deal with them.
Just not this one.

So you trade a big man who fits our system in Horford for one that does not TT. TT might never see playing time under CBS. This does not make sense, taking this into account.
