With Gordon Hayward's sign-and-trade with the Hornets still a possibility, what is the best return Boston can expect if it happens ? Maybe Cody Martin ? Terry Rozier ?

This right here.

Might not be used any time soon as there are fewer and fewer impact Free agents left. Might be better off using a minimum on a backup sf/pf type of player as opposed to dropping 20 million on someone.

It would certainly open alot of doors though. both in free agency and in possible in season trades.

Saric would be really nice here.
If we want to go big, Whiteside would be an interesting off the bench option
RHJ would fill a roll off the bench
GR3
MKG

I think I like Saric the most on this roster though.

Kemba/Teague
Smart/Nesmith
Brown/GrantW
Tatum/Saric
Thompson/Theis

That is a well balanced lineup and bench unit imo.

Deep bench is
Pritchard
Edwards
Romeo
Semi
Timelord
'21 Historical Draft
PG: Kyle Lowry / Mookie Blaylock / Mark Jackson
SG: Reggie Miller / Jeff Hornacek / Nick Anderson
SF: George Gervin / George McGinnis / Kyle Korver
PF: Connie Hawkins / Serge Ibaka / Josh Smith
C: Clint Capela / Bill Laimbeer / Jusuf Nurkic

This ^

Doubt they have any interest in Rozier for bball reasons, but his contract makes it a total nonstarter. They want to stay under the tax this year to put off the repeater tax. Rozier would probably put them over the line. They would probably pay it for a star, but Rozier isn’t a star.

I really hope this s&t is finalized soon. It feels like it’s been dragging on for too long.

Grant Williams is not a back up wing though.  Unless if we go with more traditional 2 big lineups I’m not sure if Saric is necessary.  Maybe we could start Thompson, Saric, Tatum, Brown, and Walker and just have a bigger lineup.  If we go mostly small with Tatum mostly at PF I’d rather try to get another wing.

Is a sign and trade really necessary for Charlotte to get Hayward? I’ve been seeing conflicting reports. Rotoworld in fact lists Charlotte as one of the winners in free agency because they were able to get Hayward without having to do a sign and trade.

Batum, Bridges and 2023 1st (top 3 protected) for Hayward, Semi, Edwards and two 2nds.

This would satisfy me on them not doing the Pacers deal. Saves Hornets a good deal of money. Makes up the Kanter deal too.

Start year as
PG-Walker, Teague, Waters*
SG-Smart, Nesmith, Pritchard, Langford*
SF-Brown, Batum
PF-Tatum, GW, Bridges
C-Theis, Thompson, Timelord

*two way Waters up and Pritchard to SG till Langford is ready again.

Not a cap person, but might there be a cap/rules reason for Boston to hold off on a S&T until after signing Teague and TT?
Celtics fan for life.

Possibly so. It’s just frustrating to see the FA pool drying up while this whole Hayward saga is ongoing.

There isn't. But there also isn't any reason that we have to agree to it yet; free agents (like Hayward) can't actually sign contracts yet. We're still able to seek out deals with players that would require us getting the TPE, though, there's nothing stopping us from talking with players like we already have it
I'm bitter.

I haven’t seen anywhere else that Saric has signed.  On another thread somebody posted that the Sixers signed him for four years at $2.6 mill per.  That’s what they signed him to four years ago on his rookie deal.

I’d like to see Ainge get him.  I think he’d help balance out our roster.

I wonder what player/players the Hornets want to move in this and who Boston is trying to find to take them.
