  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
OK with the unfortunate end of the Celtic's season I need something to take my mind of off the last game and bad trade proposals. I saw this idea on another website and thought it was interesting, I know there are a lot of soccer fans on these boards and I am curious of your opinions. Comprise a soccer team made up of athletes from the NBA, MLB, NFL and the NHL, you do not have to use a player from every league. Obviously most of these guys don't have any real soccer skills, but whose attributes do you think would translate to the beautiful game? What's your formation and who's playing where and why? Here's mine:

Formation: 3-4-3
We are playing all out offense, but the defense is no joke. The midfield would be focused on crisp accurate passing to create opportunities  for the guys up front.

Goalkeeper: Dwight Howard
We all know how big he is and how mobile he is for his size, he has a defensive mind and could cover a lot of ground in front of the net.

Centerback: Kevin Garnett
A defensive powerhouse with size and speed, not to mention a guy that would really get under the skin of his man. He would relish the role of locking down the opponent's best players.

Leftback: Ray Lewis
He's the wily veteran, yeah he's a bit old, but is anyone going to question his will? Defense is his responsibility and he takes it seriously.

Rightback: Ron Artest
Another thorn in attacking player's sides, good luck getting any separation from him.

Center-defensive-midfielder: Troy Polamalu
He would run rampant in the midfield, just when you think you have space you don't, he closes on you and claims the ball as his own.

Left Midfielder: Deron Williams
A part of the creative core, excellent passing vision and the ability to create with the ball.

Center Midfielder: Jason Kidd
His vision is undeniable, there would never be a doubt as to whether the pass would be in the right place at the right time. His passes would lead to many goals.

Right Midfielder: Chris Paul
A part of the creative core, excellent passing vision and the ability to create with the ball.

Left Wing: Terrell Owens
Speed, strength, attacking mindset, he would cause many problems storming down the left side.

Right Wing: Kobe Bryant
An offensive nuisance, he's fast and agile and would leave defenders heads spinning.

Striker: Lebron James
A complete package of speed, size and strength, any ball crossed into his area would be his. Impossible to beat with physicality, and would beat any defender to an open ball.

Even though he's not a US athlete, I'd have Usain Bolt at outside midfield and have my backs play long balls over the top and have him go chase it.

KG has to be the Goalie.
He´s long, athletic and most importantly, very agile. Additionally, we have a saying that goes "Left Wings and Goalies have to be crazy" (which is meant as a compliment).
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

You could also interchange the Crab Dribbler between striker and sweeper.  No opposing player would be able to bump him off the ball or challenge him in the air.  He'd be similar to Oguchi Onyewu on the USMNT.

You gotta get Rondo in there. Those pullback moves look even better in a soccer game.

I actually made a team of celtics in fifa 09. we played a 4 2 3 1. the lineup looked like this.

       Moore

Powe Perk BBD Walker

     Scal TA

Pierce         Allen
       Rondo
        KG

Obviously mikki sucked in goal but our backline was nice, lacked a little pace but never lost a ball in the air. Scal and TA held down the defensive midfield. Ray and pierce could shoot from the outside. Scal (given his love of the inbounds pass) was a FK specialist. Rondo played off of KG who was a beast of a target man.
