I read on Twitter that for luxury tax / salary cap purposes it may be better for the Celts to bring Yam over on an NBA contract (or trade him), instead of leaving him stashed for another season.

Can someone explain that?  I guess it could simply be that he'll be a cheap option to fill out a roster spot.

That would seem to be the only reason.  If he were a first-round pick, after a few years he would no longer be subject to the draft scale, but he’s a 2nd, so that doesn’t apply.

I like these highlights that Liam has been posting, he looks like an exciting player.  I just am holding myself back from any real hope about him for 2 reasons
a.  The league he is playing in now
b.  Have we ever had hit on a great overseas player?

I mean I was excited for Yabu too, and others.  So for myself I am just pushing all of this into the 'this is nice' category.

Yes!

And while Wanamaker wasn’t a world-beater, he was a capable NBA backup. He was not a star over in the German league, just steady, with an NBA body.

If Yam is a star at age 20 in his league, shooting above 40% from 3, who knows? Encouraging that he’s doing this playing against pros. Noticed that Dragan Bender is in the Israel league - he looks like a backup over there.

ok now I have to admit that I am clueless...lol
of course DT.  not sure he was 'great' but he was good, helpful, serviceable....

well other than that guy that started for us earlier this year they have all been disappointments!
oh dear

I still am keeping expectations extremely low for Yam.

there was this guy named Dino Radja a while back .....

also Brad Wanamaker was playing overseas before the Cs signed him, he was a useful role player for a little bit.

Gigi Datome is shooting over 50% from 3 this year.  Maybe we can get him back for the playoffs.

I remember the excitement when people thought we were getting Andres Nocioni 2.0.

In hindsight, Gigi wasn't even that bad with us. Hit his threes at an elite rate

Looks legit

Cant wait to have him on the roster next season

Plays with an edge from the clips. Suppose to be a tenacious defender

He just needs some seasoning. He needs to take better care of the ball. He's playing in a pro league and he's only 20.

Can we give Yam Waters' 2-way contract or will he replace Edwards?
