That trade would eliminate the Lakers from championship contention.

I'm not a Biedrins fan, he rebounds but other than that I don't think he's a positive for his team. Though I haven't watched him all that much this year.

I don't see it.  I assume you mean Dorrel Wright, not Brandon?  I think this is 2 promising young players who are healthy and getting better for 1 very promising question mark  and a crazy, fading veteran.  Biedrins and Wright combined are less than Bynum's salary over the next 2 years (thru 2012-13).
I see this as risky for LA short-term -- how do they know how AB and DW will fit over the last few months of this season?  And risky  for Golden State long-term -- Bynum is an expensive gamble with his injury history and reputation for lack of work ethic. Note, too, that Bynum has played alongside Pau and Kobe almost his whole career which has to make offense a little easier.  Just saying that there is no definitive evidence of how he'll play without 2 superstars.

I'm sure the Wizards would be interested in unloading Rashard Lewis on the Lakers.  I read today they are also interested in Hinrich...

OK, with salaries, it is definitely impossible to include Hinrich and it's looking very difficult to even trade for Lewis without gutting the whole team.

The only remotely possible deal I see is:

Rashard Lewis for

artest, walton, caracter, ratliff, shannon brown, joe smith

This couldn't happen until after feb. 17th and shannon brown has to agree to it (which he never would).

I want it to work soooo badly though for the monstrocity of contracts it would bring upon LA.  But then again, I think it would improve them overall this year, so actually I don't want it to work.

Half the Laker team for Lewis? Mmmm ya, no.

Bynum & Artest

Biedrins, Wright & Radmanovic

This kills the Lakers championship chances this year and also takes away their future with Bynum... The Lakers should be able to get much more in return for Bynum.

"Relegated "to the corner shot" is the way Daniel Artest described it -- except that he said "regulated" and surely meant "relegated.")"

LOL!! That one made my day.

I don't believe it would at all.  Biedrins is a good rebounding center (better then Bynum this year) and while he has been injured in the past is much healthier then Bynum.  And it isn't like the Lakers need offense so Biedrins lack of an offensive game isn't crippling for them.  Wright (the SF) is playing great basketball and has really come into his own now that he is getting minutes.  Heck even Radmanovic is stroking the ball from deep very well.  Wright is obviously not the defender that Artest can be, but Artest hasn't exactly been trying much defensively whereas Wright at least is putting in the effort (and doing so on a bad team).  Likewise Biedrins isn't quite the defender that Bynum is, but he is a credible interior defender.

JO for Ron!

I was waiting for somebody to suggest something like that....

Next will come the ridiculous assumption that Artest would behave because of Garnett's influence.

And of course, in ESPN's trademark "style", they publish Ron's denial of the Stein rumors titled "Ron Artest 'definitely' doesn't want trade" while simultaneously putting the same rumors in audio form on the page:

Marc Stein loses some credibility points here with this. I'll have to see him correctly predict a superstar trade before I take him seriously again.
