Where exactly is Tatum, Brad??

He put him in for the last 45 seconds. 👌

He was at the scorer’s table with 4 minutes left. Not Brad’s fault the play didn’t stop for 3 minutes.

Could use a timeout, no? What is he saving them for...

remember when he refused to call a TO when PMP was injured and writhing in pain?

FYI it’s okay to blame the players and not Brad

Except it's Brad's job to recognize that futility and low energy out there and remedy it, not sit on his hands.

I just think it’s odd that the players are totally off the hook in this version of events. It’s somehow Brad’s job to perfectly time all of his timeouts and then they’ll magically flip the switch from the crap they displayed? Idk. They’re professionals after all. They can try.

Celtics FG 38.3% 3PT 29.4%
Spurs FG 59.1% 3PT 40%

Benches
Celtics 50 minutes 14 points
Spurs 39 minutes 14 points

Methinks the 59% above will return to the mean...I hope it does anyways.

No, it won't always work, but it's at least trying to do his job. Just hoping they work through it is not a strategy.

They were clearly out of sorts out there with low energy and their head not in the game. That is the perfect scenario to call a timeout, settle them down, and get a set play to get a good look at the basket. That at least sets the guys up for success, rather than simply doing nothing and hoping they work through it on their own. That is the kind of in-game management that great coaches - like Pop - excel at, and Brad just can't do it for whatever reason, which limits our ceiling with him.

The Spurs must have shot like 95% front he field in the last 6 mins of the quarter. That’s as bad as I have ever seen the Cs play. If they don’t come out of the 3rd quarter guns blazing after getting embarrassed like that, they should just retire.

Just caught up with the box score at HT. What happened in the 2nd quarter Celtics seemed to start strong but now they are down by double digits

I don't typically think of this team as a group of quitters, but they quit there in the last five minutes.  I hope I never see that again.

If you get beaten, fine, that happens.  NBA basketball is hard.  But giving up a 20-point swing because you stopped f***ing trying is unacceptable.

If this happened to Pop's team, every single one of these starters would be out for the rest of the game.  I've seen him do it before.  "First game with the band back together," cool, I'm happy for you.  Hit the showers.

For sure. That was trash effort by 90% of the players at the end there. But when things look that disjointed and players are looking totally out of sync, sometimes stopping and recentering things can make a big difference. Agree that Brad can’t play for them, though, and most of that atrocity was just mental lapses by the players.

totally on the players.  They get over confident beating a couple of crappy badly coached teams. And this is what happens.

Brad thinks it’s a practice game, 12 man rotation like we’re up 20.

that was an absolutely inexcusable second quarter and it just got worse as they went.  Brad should be in the locker room taking a bat to one of them as an example

I’m gonna pretend Brad knows this is in the bag and is playing 4-d chess. We win by 15+
