Sorry to hear that--losing a pet is very, very difficult. They're our friends, our family, and a constant companion whose loyalties never waiver. They never judge, and only love--I hope this passes for you soon.

Thank you so much, my friends ... it means more than you know.

I keep expecting to see him at the door when I get home, or have him wake me up to get him food, or bug me for a treat from the fridge, or leave a dead mouse for me at the doorstep, or pester me to throw his toy for him, or a thousand other little things I got used to ...

 ... I even went to the back door last night to call him before I went to bed, until his name stuck in my throat, and I realized he wasn't going to come bounding around the corner of the house ever again.

Haven't had the chance to take many pics of them yet, but here are a couple, (and a bit dark on two).

This is Princess, (on left - long-hair Maine Coon), and Sugar, (on right - half American Shorthair, half Maine Coon) ... they are half-sisters and I got them on Christmas day, a month after my dear Cosby's passing, (tough to see his pic above).

They are both gorgeous cats, (Princess is all white and has one bright gold eye, one ice-blue, and Sugar is white with a dusting of light-brown all over - the pics don't do them justice), and both very sweet disposition.




Just Sugar by herself, (Princess runs from the sound of my camera's auto-focus, so it's tough to get pics of her - I've got to get a pic of her eyes, though, as their colors are amazing):

Wow, what beautiful cats, B.

This may sound corny but when I was reading the post, one of our (three) cats was on the floor just beside me, meowing to let me know that he wanted to be cuddled. He's got a tail as big as the one on Princess. He's part Somali, part Siamese, part Forest cat and part domestic. His name is Barkley, by the way. He was a round mound when he was born, his three siblings were much smaller and so the name fit perfectly.

The best part about pets is you're never alone (unless you choose to be) and many scientific studies show that keeping  animals is good for our hearts and our mental health  and general well-being. Pets give sense of purpose, which is always good.

Very sweet dog.  We got him from the ARL when he was 7 to keep our Lab company.

Always tough to put a dog to sleep, but it was the right thing to do.
