while the responses have been humorous, will any mod/staff person actually answer the question if this is possible or a good idea?    :-\

I don't know is my short answer. I know that you can adjust the number of karma actions allowed per hour, but I know that rule is in place because people were abusing it. Creating second accounts, forming "tommy point circles" (it is as stupid as it sounds)..but then you also have to ask yourself, "who cares?" Its not like you can trade them for money, right?

So yeah, my answer is "I don't know."

I have never heard of the karma rule....is that why I can't find instant karma in Florida?  Can you get it through ebay maybe?

The real good Karma comes from a tree in Africa and in Oregon.....right next to the Apple trees........it's real handy that way

I don't get what all the fuss about Tommy Points is ....I sure don't have many, maybe I don't have any....and if I do where did they come from.

I am the Rodney Dangerfield of this blog anyway

while i agree with this......the first question that comes to mind is, "why have them at all"?

Because they are fun. I know I enjoy being able to tangibly recognize good ideas or thoughts. But like post counts, in the end they are just numbers....

Somewhere in the guts of the forums system admins can modify the values. Just like they can allow negative "karma" actions.

Yeah by 'you' I didn't mean you in particular, I meant you as in an admin.

Honestly I like the current system, it means there is less of a flood. I'd hate to have to adjust tommy point levels for inflation.

I know it's probably impossible, but if I had any Tommy Point-related wish, I wish I could give TPs to people commenting on front page articles, not just in the forums.  Plenty of times that someone like Master Po is deserving of some love.

Master Po has a forum account too.....

But yes I would like if it were extended to the main SBN system. But sadly those are very seperate systems.

I agree with that, and I'd extend it to the chat.
