IT: I'd backup Kyrie. I'd do it, Danny.

Danny: Well okay, but we have Terry.

IT: So? Trade him.

Danny: Ha, trade Terry Rozier? Scary Terry? Tito Three Sticks? He's beloved by fans. I can't do that.

IT: ...

Thanks for the laugh, man - TP ;D.

Sign me up.  IT's genuine love for Boston makes him so easy to root for.  He embraced everything about the Boston experience.

Not sure where minutes would come from but I'm not concerned about chemistry issues with him in a bench role.  Brad and Danny will both outline their expectations before he ever signs a contract.

As with every other player, as long as he can be had for the right price, I’d love to have him back. He’s been hidden before against playoff starters, so it should be easier to hide him against bench players.

Boston may be a good opportunity for him to salvage his value, hopefully he buys in and embraces a 6th man role if he ends up here.

Couldn't agree more.  It still doesn't seem realistic but we could definitely use a rejuvenated IT against elite competition in the playoffs.  Brad has enough wings at his disposal to get creative on the defense end.

It would be insanely stupid not to bring him back on a non guaranteed small deal

These are the words of a desperate man who fears his NBA career is on the rocks.

Don't do it, at any price.  The apple cart is nicely stacked once Smart signs.

Ya. I think it would also be consistent with Ainge’s “tire-kicking” mentality. His interest in Cousins, or his decision to draft a boom/bust prospect like Williams, would make me think he has to least keep an eye on IT.

Assuming he gets signed to a reasonable deal, worst case scenario is his offense doesn’t return, and his usual poor defense makes him unplayabale, and he gets waived or just benched for the whole season.

Best case scenario is he becomes a top 2 6th man of the year candidate. Having our starting 5, plus IT off the bench is a lot of potential firepower.

The Celtics would have complete leverage in any deal.  I don't see the problem if he conveys a willingness to accept a limited role off the bench.  The team can just waive him if he causes any friction.

If anything Danny would have extra flexibility in the trade market if IT can prove his health.  If Smart ends up getting a long term extension then we are looking at major luxury tax issues when it comes to re-signing Irving and Rozier.  Terry is probably the odd man out for an extension in this scenario unless Irving really wants to form his own team.

I'm not saying I want Rozier gone but a healthy IT gives Ainge some ability to maneuver in the trade market if a PF/C becomes available.

I know I'm projecting pretty far ahead but the potential upside completely outweighs the minimal risk IMO.

If we had had a completely healthy IT in game 7 we would have made it to the finals. Sometimes defense doesn't get it done
