I am surprised more hasn't been talk about this but Joel Embiid has yet to represent Cameroon at senior level and could hypothetically represent USA in the future. This isn't an isolated occurrence by just Hakeem, as many other African players such as Ibaka, Deng and Maker have done this over the years by representing larger and more competitive/secure nations. Another sign of Embiid's uncertain international future was on the 7th February last year, Embiid was named in preliminary team for 2017 FIBA AfroBasket in the Republic of Congo but he did not compete.

Could you see him representing Team USA in the future?

Confused.  Is he from Cameroon or Republic of Congo?

Also, I'm not a fan of Embiid though I recognize his talent.  He likes to intimidate his opponents, a real trash-talker who can't always back it up.  If he is now abandoning his countrymen to play for a more competitive team, well then he just lowered himself another notch in my eyes.
