It’s surprising to see a team on a 13 game winning streak posted as 7.5 point underdogs when playing at home, but the Warriors have earned that type of respect.
How do you see this going down?
-
Celtics will struggle early, but the offense will start clicking and they will be able to slow down the Warriors just enough.
Cautiously optimistic; C's 115, GSW 111
-
We will destroy them....hahahahaha
-
Spread opened at +6 so it's clear what the money thinks will happen tonight. I bet it's +9 by tip off.
-
I think this will be Kyrie's coming out party tonight on the national stage. What better way to prove your an elite player without LeBron, than to beat the best team in the league with a target on your back. Celtics win.
-
Sad to say it, but I think they'll cover. They have been beating everyone pretty easily (14.4 differential!!), and that's when they coast for the first half then blow teams out in the third quarter. If they're fully engaged, well ... our offense doesn't seem ready to keep up.
Please prove me wrong, Cs!
-
I think GSW takes Kerr's flattery of the C's to heart and comes out with a vengeance looking to drill the "young upstart" team to show they're still the dominant team.
Expecting a GSW blowout of 17+ points. Hoping for a C's blowout of 20+ points.
I honestly think that if GSW wins big tonight, C's will beat them on their court --> GSW gets their 'statement' game out of their system and C's go into that next matchup to prove something
-
I picked the Celtics to win because I hate rooting to be wrong.
-
My prediction is a good competitive game but GSW pull ahead at some point and in the end we don't have quite enough to hand with them. GSW 110 Bos 101
-
Is there a poll on here or is my laptop malfunctioning :P
Hate to say it, but GSW wins, but Celtics put up a great fight in front of an electric TD Garden.
Final Score: Warriors win 109-102

There *was* a poll. Not sure where it went.
I blame the new mods.
-
I think they'll get out to a big lead, Kyrie will get hot and lead a comeback in the 4th quarter, but it'll run out of steam and we'll lost like 112-102.
I couldn't be more bullish on this team and its future, but their core has been together for years, while we're missing Hayward and our guys have only been together a few months. Anything can happen on a given night, but if we played them 10 times, I suspect they'd win 7 or 8 of those 10.
-
The following goes into figuring the potential result.
The Warriors are carrying weight into this game -- they are "supposed" to win.
The Celtics are home dogs -- "they have nothing to lose."
Everybody in the world is picking the Warriors (Ainge picked them this AM on the radio) -- In gambling, "Everybody is wrong".
The Celtics bench will put in an above average game as last game they didn't.
When the Celtic's bench is "on" they are better than the Warrior's bench.
The Celtics have a shiny new "National TV Kyrie".
The Celtics have a fully committed defense playing by far the best offensive team in the league. If the game is played tough as tough? The defense will win.
The Warriors have Durant...I still say Celtics at the buzzer by 2 points.
-
They should lose and not cover but the way their luck has gone they win tonight and lose their next game instead.
-
This seems like one of those games the Warriors are going to want to make a statement in. I just can't see how the Warriors don't win this one and win it big. The match-up later in the season, I think is a different story, but this one, I really don't think Boston will be in at all.
-
I have a bad feeling, mostly because the number 13 is associated with this game.
Superstition aside I think it will be a good game, and regardless of the results we'll continue to crush it moving forward.
-
This is where we miss Gordan Hayward
-
This is where we miss Gordan Hayward
Yup
20 points and 5 asists down the drain.
Plus what i saw in pre season .....his height and lenght changes the shots opponents will take or just can't get or feel confident trying to get. Opponents destroyed the short guys we had last year. Easy buckets galore. Even if he does not score his defense looked so much better than our tiny guards.
Just his presence roaming in the backcourt stopped much of this awful defense given up by Bradley and IT to taller longer players. . Who feasted on those guys .
Warriors are no doubt superior team with Durrant now . But Hayward would have narrowed the gap in talent to be put on the court.

This is my mind set.. national TV, hottest team in the East with the longest active win streak.. We're also getting some of the spotlight right now. I see them having some rare motivation to bring their A game.
I think we would have had a better chance tonight if the win streak was 3 games instead of 13, or if we lost to Brooklyn the other night.
Warriors will try to set an example tonight.
-
It's amazing that we're on a 13 game win streak and at home, yet most C'bloggers are siding with GS.
Y'all should be ashamed for your lack of faith. My unbridled optimism won't let me entertain the notion of them coming into our house and stopping the streak.
Masked, untucked Kyrie is finally going to be unleashed going off for 36+, and he'll stick the dagger in their hearts with a crossover three from the right wing, giving them nightmares of 2016 all over again. Celtics win 107 to 105.

My prediction is that the Warriors will come in to this game determined to make a statement, punching hard right from the start and will likely run out to an early, large lead. The C's so-far-sub-par offense will have trouble keeping up with GSW's raw shooting talent.
But I think even if that happens, that the Cs will grind their way back into it with defensive adjustments and if it's close at the end, they may be able to steal it. Having the home crowd behind them could be critical.

http://www.espn.com/blog/statsinfo/post/_/id/134587/celtics-warriors-meet-in-matchup-between-nbas-top-teams
When comparing Boston's defense to the league average, it would have the second-best differential among all teams since the NBA-ABA merger -- one spot higher than the 2007-08 team that won the championship.
We'll keep GSW under their average and probably lose a close game. We've played them better than any other team the last 3 seasons, are the best defensive team by far in the NBA with a lot of length at 4 starter spots (assuming AH moves back to starting at PF), and Irving is very good in games that come down to the last minute. A close win would not be a shocker. Any blowout would, but sit happens.

Really? I think GS is the absolute perfect team to start him at C against. We matchup very well with them with Kyrie, Brown, Morris, Tatum, and Al starting.
-
After going one for 12 and allowing Steph Curry to go off for 45 points Smart steals the ball from Curry, runs the court and pulls up for a last second three. Celtics win. Smart declared an integral part of the offense and one the best defenders in the league. Nobody complains.
-
Warriors have no one to defend Irving. He will go for 35.
We need to put multiple people on KD. I think Theis and Baynes can keep Greene from going crazy on the boards.
We match up well.

GSW will probably start with Zaza at C. Thus for 'starters', it probably makes sense to start Baynes at C. Once the Warriors go 'small', with Draymond at the 5, then maybe you move Al to the 5. On the other hand, Al may be our best defender on Durant so maybe you try to use Theis or Morris at the 5 on Draymond and leave Al on KD?

Who will score on the 2nd unit?
-
shame we did not get Durrant .
that would have evened thing up prettty good.
-
Either team can win. The Celtics have beaten the Warriors before in their first home loss of the season. Was it last year or the year before? At this point, I believe the Celtics are as good as any team out there, and have the youth to get better. Kerr will have his hands full trying to outwit Stevens.
-
All I know is that if we lose, the social media/casual fans will go crazy and we are the laughing stock in plenty of memes on instagram. I´m pretty good at skipping over that silliness, but I sure hope we´ll whoop some cali-buttocks tonight.

absolutley correct jp. we need faith and trust in CBS and the celtics. as KG one squeeched...anything can happen!!! ;D tp to jp for the positive thinking!
i plan to enjoy this game and expect the celtics to give GSW more than it can handle.how did the celtics do against GSW the past two years? they split the four games, with GSW winning one in over time.
now the celtics have kyrie, a better smart, and the jay boys. ;D
celtics win tonight!!!!!!

actually, i would not be at all surprised if this happened....except for the "nobody complains" part. i mean, this IS cb. ;D
-
where's the game thread?
help me FL celts fan. you're my only hope
p.s. not enough people have faith in the C's tonight
-
Celtics by 4.
Curry misses a go ahead 3 with 2 seconds left, and the warriors foul Tatum who got the rebound. Tatum hits the final 2 FTs with the ice pumping through his veins.
-
I pick us to win. I really think we will. I think Kyrie is going to have a great game, despite the mask.
I can't believe that GS is favored by 7.5 on our court.
-
Everyone is picking GS tonight. Playing with house money and streak will no impact on the outcome. If the bench throws another clunker it’s a loss. It will be tough enough to score with them as is. If it’s close in the 4th they’ll find a way I think.
-
Was it over when Hayward went down?
Was it over when Horford went down?
Was it over when Krie went down?
Celts will step up to the challenge against the overstuffed champs/
-
I think we will lose but this becomes a very good learning experience for our team.. A.lot of the commentators that don't want to give us credit for being good keep saying that come playoff time Cleveland will flip the switch and they'll be better. They say that we don't have another go to score besides Irving but I think that by play of time Jayson Tatum will step up to be the number 2 scoring option on this team and will be putting up like 20 a game.
wWe will be a different team by playoffs but right now we're not ready to beat Golden State.
-
I had Golden State by 8, so I guess I'm voting that they win and cover.
Mike
-
C's win a close game

You nailed that part, except they BLEW A 17-POINT LEAD LOLOLLLL
-
I was one of the few who predicted a win tonight, where are my Tommy points??
What a great game. Ugly but great.

In Croatia, it was 3,50:1 for Celts, 1,65:1 for GSW

Yep. Huge comeback and a great victory. For awhile there, it looked like GS was going to make that statement, but then the C's happened.
