I'll be there.

A few questions:

- The scores of the 10 players called 'starters' all count the same (there's no real starting 5)?
- How does Free Throw Percentage and Field Goal Percentage work?

Is it the average of all players' percentages? So if a players shoots 0/1 it adds 0% and damages your score dramatically and what about players who are absent? Or is it the total number of makes by all players divided by their attempts (which makes more sense)?

- For turnovers, that's about getting the least amount, I would assume?
- And you can change your line-up everyday, so that basically means that you can set up your players in every game they play?

A TP for creating this league to you.

Quote
- The scores of the 10 players called 'starters' all count the same (there's no real starting 5)?

So, at the beginning of every week you ll have to set your roster for every day. All that matters is who plays which day.

Quote
- How does Free Throw Percentage and Field Goal Percentage work?

So, imagine on a given week three of your players played. A had 1/2 FTs, B had 3/5 and C had 2/3. Your FT% for that will be 1/2+3/5+2/3 = 6/10. (that is you add each players numbers NOT the %s). Same for FG%. It works the same way as FT% calculated for a teams boxscore.

So, yes, if a player has 0/1 it will affect your total FT% very little. If on the other hand a player has 6/20 it will have a much greater impact.

Yes, TOs the less the better.

Not sure what you mean in the last question. If you play a bit with the settings on the ESPN site it should become clearer.

I would consider it but I can't do 5. I won't be around until 730 or later. Plus you don't have an IR slot either.

If you were in either league last year but can't make this year, I'd be grateful if you let me know ASAP.

New players welcome too, goes without saying.
Title: Re: ESPN fantasy league
Post by: greece66 on August 22, 2018, 06:15:16 AM
Now, here is another, completely different league, which tries to follow cap rules as far ESPN settings allow.  We have 6 confirmed participants as of now.

 We want the winner to win a small monetary prize, but bcs we don't want to leave anyone out (and there are a couple of minors too), we will set up a small strictly voluntary contribution like $5 (prolly through paypal).

Here's the link to the league:
http://fantasy.espn.com/basketball/league/settings?leagueId=96305922

And here are the rules (brace yourselves):

Players are kept at the price they were drafted for a maximum of two years total. You then have the option of keeping them for 1 more (3rd) year at 15% increase AND be forced to release them after that year, or give them a contract. Contracts start at 15% increase and rise an additional 5% each year.

For example: you draft Jonny Random for $100. You keep him in 2018 , paying him  $100. You keep him in 2019 again for 100$. In 2020, you have two options. Keep him for one last season for 115 and release him at its end. OR offer him a contract: 115 in 2020, +5% for each additional year of the contract.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
If you DROP a player at any time during his contract it will cost you 50% of his salary the following year. Moreover, that player must pass through 1 waiver session before you are eligible to pick them back up.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
FAAB signings last only for the season they were signed.  FAAB salaries are the price of the winning bid (minimum bid is $10).

If you pick someone up through FAAB who was under contract when they were released, their price to keep remains the salary paid by the previous years contract + 10%. The new owner is not obligated to the remaining years of the contract, only the salary, the contract is now void. If you pick someone up through FAAB who was drafted or kept that year, their salary to keep remains the salary paid by the original owner +10%.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Some things (esp. regarding minimum bids and cap) are still subject to revision, but the main idea is to make a proper dynasty league. We will keep track of contracts etc through excel (I have found the perfect masochist for the job  ;D and he's experienced in this sort of thing too).

The roto auction draft is in less than 2 hours from now (7 pm ET)

Quick reminders: if you can't attend pls set your preferences at the ESPN site. The result won't be perfect, but it will be much better than the AI's choices. To illustrate this point, last season, the H2H league was won by a player who was absent but had set his preferences in detail.

If you are absent and don't set preferences but still want to participate in the league, pls contact me or mang before Monday Oct. 15, so that we don't start looking for a replacement.

Pls check (eg by entering a mock draft) that ESPN's draft app works well. For instance, I had probs with my flash player today and it took me some time to fix them - you won't have the time to do this 2 mins before the draft starts.

Try to be at the draft 5-10 mins before it starts. Last year a player was 5 mins late, and in his absence ESPN autoselected  Hayward with a very large bid. Two days later, he quitted the league blaming it all on ESPN.

That's all, enjoy the league!

I know ESPN very well. The previous format allowed us to view the daily statistics of the entire league of available players. Apparently that feature is gone. So if I want to see "Who has the most minutes tonight of all the free agents?" for example, I can apparently no longer do that.

Hello,

who is interested in getting a team in the fantasy league?

My team is up for sale (for $0).

The roster consists of:

Guards: Fox, Thompson, Evans, Rivers
Forwards: Brown, Durant, Bjelica, Nance, Portis, Kleber
Centers: Sabonis, Kanter, C. Zeller
