Acquiring Bledsoe, Jordan, and Josh Smith would not be about fielding a contender.
Bledsoe - Bradley - Green - Smith - Jordan
That would indeed be a fun team to watch. They'd probably defend fairly well but also have a really hard time scoring.
However, every one of those players (even Green, if he can live up to his 'potential') is a future trade asset.
Yes that's what I think fans aren't realizing. These moves would be about gathering assets
Exactly. That's what the 2007 5th overall pick (Green) and Delonte were. That's what Theo Ratliff's expiring deal, Al Jefferson, and Gerald Green were.
And who will be playing the part of Kevin Garnett next offseason? Or will that once in a generation talent be available in 2015? 2016? 2020? How long are you willing to wait?
Kevin Love would be my guess.
Love does not have the talent to turn a franchise around. He is not and will never be on the same level as Garnett.
Yes but it won't take all of the Celtics assets to acquire him. Meaning they will be in a much better position going forward from now than they were before they acquired KG.
How many teams are able to turn mid-tier talent into a HoFer? DA did it twice in the same offseason.
I wouldn't build my franchise in the likelihood that could happen again.
Nobody is blowing LAC away with offers for Bledsoe or Jordan (and his bad contract). Neither is ATL for Smith. They are not players worth blowing things up for. Someone like Curry or DMC you'd have to consider seriously, but not these names.
