Last year Celtics lose this type of game.

So it is encouraging to see them find a way to win.

That’s a fair point but this team is 1-2 against real competition and still struggling against the grizzlies of the world.
They have potential to be a title team but as of now they’re overrated and hopefully don’t buy into any hype about themselves

Classic fan negativity. We have the best record and point differential in the league. We’ve beat good teams that are beating other good teams .

Missed the 2nd half but watched it on replay. Queta looked a little lost out there in his first game, especially on defense. I hope he gets some minutes vs. the Hornets.

This actually what I was referencing in my previous comment about Holiday stepping up and settling the team down. If you recall a year ago, they would turn the ball over endlessly in games like this - and this one was headed that way. But just before it snowballed, Holiday acted like a veteran point guard and got them into a set and they scored. Can't recall the exact time but it was under 4 minutes and they were on the ropes.

Man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time.

But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.

Definitely feel better about the ball being in Holiday’s hands vs Smart’s.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Sure, but that missed drive with 10 seconds to go was the exact type of decision people would have killed Smart for on these forums.

What's "real competition"?  Obviously the 76ers and Twolves count, but why not the Heat and Knicks (both 8-5)?  Why not the Pacers (7-5)?  The only teams we've played who are more than one game out of a playoff slot are Washington and Memphis.

By most metrics, the Celtics have had one of the toughest schedules in the league thus far. Of course when I check in here, Celtics fans are posting about how they’ve been getting by because they haven’t played any good teams yet.

This source has us at 8th in the league at strength of schedule. Compare that to Philly (19) and Milwaukee (23). People need to realize how many games we’ve played on the road vs home, too, especially compared to our competitors.

Overall, though?

Strength of schedule is hard to assess at this point but our only two losses are road games at MIN and at PHI.  That said, we have had some games we should have played much better in, especially this MEM game.  I don't expect us to play great every game, there are going to be tough nights, but this game should not have even been close.
