It would be very nice if we can get an early lead, sustain that lead, and allow Gino to work his magic by getting the starters some much needed rest.

I'm wondering how much rust Pierce will show? Hopefully none and we can jump on them out of the gates!

honestly..i don't look at any game right now as one the Cs should win. I am skeptical until they do it

This should be an easy game.
How so?

Based on their poor play this year?

Based on them having completely healthy (and more talented) rosters in previous years where they took weak teams for granted and lost to them in the Garden?

Because Stuckey's agent uses footage of Piston/Celtic games to justify a higher salary for Stuckey?

I'd love an easy win but I don't see one happening against any team this year.  Ask yourself, when was the last time the C's crushed a clearly-inferior opponent?  It's been a very long time.

Sorry to go negative so early here but the last thing I want this team to think is that any game will be an easy win.

I think we will win this game, wouldn't be surprised if it's close but I think we pull it out. I predict Rondo goes absolutely off.

The last time we had an easy win as either in the playoffs against the Knicks or against the Wizards/Pistons last year towards the very end.

Sorry to go negative so early here but the last thing I want this team to think is that any game will be an easy win.
If your purpose is to get this "team" from getting a big head why are you posting here instead of coaching Doc?

I think this is a good place to start over.  We had a REAL tough start to the season against NY and Miami, then our energy was already wasted for New Orleans.

Tonight is the chance for the Celtics to take control of their season back.  I don't expect them to let this opportunity to get away from them

If the C's team that played in NO shows up, it won't be an easy win.

But Detroit's worse than NO.  Just a messily constructed team.  A lot of shoot-first guards, undersized/underskilled frontcourt, weak on the boards

Yeah. One of this shoot-first guards catches fire, and we're toast. That's what I'm afraid of. It's not like our team has made it a habit to shut down the opposition.

Home opener against a weak offensive/defensive team like Detroit should be the time for our defense to recover.

Detroit is a train wreck. Weak in the backcourt, weak in the frontcourt. Very poor balance.

They are ripe for the taking.

isn't this sort of like what people were thinking about New Orleans?

with this team i'm afraid of any opponent that is young and full of energy.

Maybe, but I have visions of Rodney Stuckey suddenly looking like Dwyane Wade for one game.

Yeah, we made Jarrett Jack look like Chris Paul, so who knows.

Stucky always has big games against Rondo easily overpowers him and draws fouls at will.

I would otherwise say this is a W but with our lethargic play well probably be in a for a nailbiter with Detroit killing us on the boards.  ::)
