I'm not a fan of blowing the team up, but this is the kind of return for Ray Allen that I would expect, assuming the Celtics are unwilling to take on future salary commitments in order to preserve cap space.
Boston sends Ray Allen and Greg Stiemsma to New Jersey for the expiring contracts of Mehmet Okur and DeShawn Stevenson. The Celtics also get a draft pick. New Jersey trades a bit over $13 million in expiring contracts for expiring contracts a bit under $11 million, so Boston effectively buys a draft pick. If the Celtics kick in enough cash, maybe that can be a future first-round pick instead of a second-rounder.
