Wow, Miami dropped the ball here. They will struggle to get a better opportunity than this to upgrade their team and put it on a par with the top teams in the East.

They can go after Lillard, but it'll take a lot more to acquire him. And they'll definitely be in a bidding war with other teams. Lillard doesn't have a NTC like Beal did

Phoenix should keep Ayton. Fill out their roster with cheap bench help. They need Ayton in the paint to do all that dirty work to balance out their offensive stars.

He doesn’t do the dirty work though lol find somebody much much cheaper to do that.

I was just going to say that lol...he isn't really that kinda guy right? lol

Brogdon has been included in various trade rumors this summer, and Matt Moore of Action Network now reports that there has been "chatter" about a possible three-way deal involving the reigning Sixth Man of the Year, Bradley Beal and the Phoenix Suns.

Quote
"Something to keep in mind with the Suns in their Beal pursuit: there's been chatter in league circles about a separate potential three-way deal involving Boston's reigning 6th Man of the Year Malcolm Brogdon," Moore wrote. "I've gotten the sense those talks are now outdated (as is pretty common with a lot of league rumor mongering), but it's an interesting element to keep an eye on."

———

Saw this earlier, didn’t think too much of it given the source, but now it makes sense.

Perhaps Celtics looking to move Brogdon + for Ayton?

But how does Brogdon fit in with Suns?  Do they start Beal, Brogdon, Booker, Durant + joe schmoe big?

I wonder if it could be Brogdon & Horford (or Williams III) for Ayton.

Brogdon
Beal
Booker
Durant
Horford

Does anyone here think Ayton is worth Brog + Al, or Brog + timelord?
I feel like we are loosing that trade.

They're hoping for Lillard, but I don't know if he'll finally ask out. A lot is depending on if Portland can flip #3.

If not, they may pivot to Zach Lavine if Chicago ever decides what they want to do.

Oooof. A Big 3 of Booker/Beal/Durant is gonna be deadly.

Instantly #2 seed in the West. Wonder how Denver will stop them now in the WCF

What amazes me is that it’s Durant’s third super team and no one in the media says a peep.

They don't really scare me a bunch. They're a less talented version of KD/Kyrie/Harden (and that Nets team had a legit supporting cast). The only thing is that Beal and Booker are more stable, but will they just outscore teams and not play defense at all?

Yeah, I don't know that PHO is that much better with Beal than CP3.

Beal is the better individual player but he is also more duplicative and less complementary to Booker and Durant than CP3 is. Beal will be taking touches and shots away from Durant & Booker. He is a competitor as much as an aid.

Marginal improvement is my first impression.

Man, that no trade clause must have really limited what Washington could seek in return. No reason to take such a terrible deal, right? They don’t get much here.

It always disappoints me to see teams get significant players for little to nothing. Hell, we gave up more for White & Brogdon!

Would we have been able to offer a better package?

Exactly, lol. That's the problem with Ayton.

If PHO trade Ayton, I expect a lot of folks will see the hole he leaves in that team and that Ayton was doing much more work to help PHO than he got credit for.

One of the more underappreciated players in the league.

TP. I just don't see it as that much of an upgrade. And then there's the injury concerns - Beal is constantly injured. Kevin Durant hasn't played more than 55 games since leaving Golden State. Even Booker hasn't played more than 70 games since 2017. And they currently have no depth to get those guys rest.

It just feels like one of those on-paper superteams that never really does anything.

I expect WAS saw that CP3 contract as far more valuable than most others did. They get an expiring deal to get out from underneath that Beal deal and as a bonus only 50% of CP3's salary this year was guaranteed so they save even more money than anyone else was offering them in savings.

I also believe we initially undervalued just how many games Beal has missed in recent years and how much of a dent that put in his trade value. If he had of been healthy these last two years, WAS could've demanded and gotten a good return for him. A strong young player or a bunch of a firsts. But that bad health coupled with his contract and with his lack of size and age, made a massive dent in his value.

Brogdon/Pritchard for Ayton?

I think we would need to include Muscala for the salaries to match.

I feel like we are loosing that trade.
I feel we need to keep Horford because Timelord and Ayton cannot play together. Not enough spacing.

The trade I would do is Brogdon + Gallo + filler. I do feel that is an upgrade for Boston. It would give us a three headed monster up front with Ayton, Horford and Timelord.

I agree, I am not sure it is worth giving up two players in terms of Brogdon and Timelord in order to get Ayton. It wouldn't even be a discussion if Timelord could be relied to stay healthy given how much of a bargain he is relative to how highly paid Ayton is ... but Timelord cannot be relied on to stay healthy. Still, Brogdon + Timelord. That is high price. I am not sold on that being worthwhile.
