Hard to say how this turns out.  I’d prefer to surround Doncic with good defense, not just offense.  But it’s possible that Doncic/Kyrie/Wood is enough firepower to just outgun teams, even in the playoffs.  At least until Kyrie misses a month to protest the sun being made of oranges or some other stupid crap.

The West has been pretty open this year. PHO have been disappointing, not a real contender. MEM good but not great, not ready to win. GSW have sucked for a team with such an interesting blend of young and old talent. They do not look able to mount a title run without some major roster reconstruction.

LAC are a maybe team depending on whether Kawhi will be healthy come playoff time or not. A possible title contender if healthy or a non-contender if not.

Denver is the only team that has played at a high level. Porter Jr and Murray are still only playing so-so compared to years past. And they are still defensively vulnerable in the playoffs with Jokic at center.

Frankly, Dallas have a fantastic team for exploiting Jokic with their PnR heavy play of Luke & Kyrie. I'd fancy them in a series against Denver.

Dallas could be the team to beat out West.

I think that’s a disastrous move for the Mavs. I understand they needed to make a move to upgrade Luka’s #2, but I can’t think of a worse on and off court fit than a ball-dominant, defense-optional, 30-year-old, narcissist with a lengthy injury history.

Interesting side note to pay attention to, just before this trade, Tim MacMahon, whom is a journalist knowledgeable about the Mavericks, stated before this trade that Luka Doncic was close with Dorian Finney-Smith since his rookie season and loved playing with him because DFS was a hard working low usage guy.

It will be interesting how Doncic will react (privately) to this trade.

Cuban is Jewish.  I wonder if Kyrie's beliefs that he too is Jewish will mean they'll bond.

Kyrie living and playing  in Dallas has the makings of big disaster. I hope we face them in the Finals as well.

Worst case scenario is Durant ends up with Lakers or GSW. He will demand a trade for sure

What does KD make of all this?!

I bet he wishes he joined the Celtics all those years ago.

I hope we are making a run at Durant. Still probably wouldn't trade Brown or Tatum.

Can't get him without giving up one of the J's. And I'd give up Brown first if it must

I’m sorry but both Jaylen & Jayson have reached untouchable status for me. At least in the case of Durant. Maybe league wide.
Yeah, Brown has stepped up to being untouchable unless it's for a Jokic/Doncic/Giannis/Embiid. I.e., an MVP calibre player in their prime.

Tatum is that MVP calibre player in his prime, so not sure I trade him for anyone (maybe Jokic straight up?).

Remember the “two max contracts” conversation Kyrie had with KD? The speculation then was Kyrie already plotted leaving Boston for Brooklyn. Fast forward to a couple of years, he then wants out of the situation he planned for. This is just an insane, spoiled brat move.

All ya experts already predicting this would be a disaster for Dallas...I beg to dissagree.

KD and Kyrie thrived and infact were the best team in the east prior to KD goin down..i certainly see the same thing happening in Dallas.

Cuban has made a brilliant move imo and the only hitch really is if Kyrie goes back to being his other self...meaning the one that the Cs had.

The Js have doun alright with having the bulk of the scoring load...same is goin to happen in Dallas...Luka needs help and not just a Robin to his Batman but another co 1b to his 1a..
This also allows Doncic to play off ball at times and this will allow Dallas to offswt those early double teaming Doncic receives and it would be hard now to contain Doncic because there is Kyrie also to keep defenses honest.

Dallas went almost all the way last yr with Doncic by himself what more now with Kyrie...Irving just really need to be focused to basketball and nothing else and they are good.

RIP Dallas

Nets got better. The irony of Dinwiddie being back in Brooklyn after being kicked out to make room Kyrie.
