Best players that don't get much pub. or people don't talk about to much.  My first vote is for Danny Granger

Based on what I was reading from a lot of people here yesterday, Leon Powe!

(1) Joel Przybilla -- 2nd best player on the Blazers last year
(2) Luis Scola -- 2nd best player on the Rockets last year

Powe is not underrated.  He is really hurt and there is some serious doubt on whether he will ever be able to be a successful player in the NBA again.

Rudy Gay

OJ Mayo

Dirk Nowitski nobody talks about him AT ALL.

Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Nah, I'm talking about people who suddenly want to ignore how effective an offensive player he WAS when healthy.  I'm OK - begrudgingly - with not bringing him back next year (especially if his camp is demanding a player option on year 2), but that does not diminish how effective a player he was for us over the past two seasons (which a lot of folks seem to have selective memory about, now that he might be going to Cleveland).

To answer the question with a non-Celtic, I think Odom tends to be underrated.  He's the guy who, when he's on, seems to make things click for the Lakers.  Kobe always gets his, and everyone talks about Pau because of how ridiculous that trade was, but Odom's the guy that seems to make the whole thing work.

Greg Oden.

With the limited time the played him last year and the missing of his 1st year, many are already thinking he is a bust.

I agree with a lot of names already thrown up here, especially Greg Oden.

The question is sort of interesting because of the relative nature of "underrated".  At the top end of the game, I agree Dirk is underrated relative to other top players (here are two others: Carmelo Anthony, Antawn Jamison).

If the question is more of a wing man type player who is underrated (no I don't mean wing as in the position on the court, I mean as in... wingman), I agree with the idea of Scola, who is underrated relative to Yao/Artest/McGrady... (here are others: David West, Jason Terry; Jeff Green may soon be a candidate here).

Looking more at role player types: I agree with Pryzbilla; my personal favorite: Ryan Gomes.
