Draft position:

Kevin McHale: 3rd (1980)
Larry Bird: 6th (1978)
Robert Parish: 8th (1976)

Kevin Garnett: 5th (1995)
Ray Allen: 5th (1996)
Paul Pierce: 10th (1998)

Rajon Rondo: 21st (2006)
Kendrick Perkins: 27th (2003)
J.R. Giddens: 30th (2008)
Bill Walker: 47th  (2008)

I'm not saying it's not possible, but...

The Boston Celtics were the first NBA title team to not have a Top 3 draft pick on their roster since the 1983 Sixers, whose highest pick was Bobby Jones at 5.  Of course, if not for the ABA, Moses Malone and Dr. J would probably have been Top 3 picks.

it's unlikely that the Cs will have three great players develop out of this group, but you never know.  I can see Rondo being an all star PG in a couple of years.  The two rookie swingmen have a long road, but both have tons of talent.

  • all hail garfield-sama!
Rondo
Perk
Giddens or Walker or anyone else that might come our way down the road...

you never know! give it 5 years

TP for you! sure, why not?! i'm really sure that Rondo and Perk have become solid contributors on their positions.. and i sure do hope Giddens/Walker will develop into someone very special for this team, as much as Rondo and Perk have become..

I thought the new new big 3 would be (unfortunately not celtics):
OJ Mayo
Rany Foye
Rashad Mccants

But then OJ Mayo got traded...so I guess not.
Anything is possible!!!

Championships are one by veterans but it is extremely rare that you can build a team entirely of trades and veterans (like we did this year). We now have a young player at every position that we can bring along slowly while the Big 3 is still around. If one of them doesn't pan out we can replace him with another young player before he is needed to come in and contribute.

this is the most exciting thing about this team i think.

i do think you need at least 1 top of the line talent, preferably in the post to win. like a kg but if you get that you can find the right mix of role players at any position

tim duncan 1
manu ginobil 57
tony parker 28

Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity...
