Does anyone know when the picks start? I saw that it begins at 7 pm but I assume that is just the ESPN coverage and not the actual picks.

The only thing I know for sure about this draft night is that I will miss Bill Simmons. Other than that I have no idea what will happen.

probably around 7:45-8
Fingers crossed for 7:30. on watchESPN there are separate links for the draft at 730 and 7 so Im hoping that means the pregame if you will is at 7 and the picks start rolling in at 730. I would think 745 is probably more realistic.

So, I asked this elsewhere but never got an answer:

I'm curious as to how trades regarding draft position work--specifically when they are announced. Say, for instance, hypothetically in dreamland, the Celtics trade 16,28,33 and 45 for the Knicks 4th pick. When would I, as a viewer, be made aware of said transaction? Would I only find out after the Knicks picked someone at 4? Or would I have to wait until the Celtics made their selection at 16? I wouldn't have to wait all the way to 45 to find out about the trade, will I?

Frankly, I just want to know when I can expect the news that we've traded ___X___ for ___higher pick___. If we get all the way through the first round and there's no news of a trade, does that mean a trade (up) isn't happening?

The trades are usually announced 10-15 minutes after the player is picked ;D!

Here is an example with Shabazz Napier from the draft last year! The trade was announced some minutes after he got drafted ;D;

So what are we all drinking?

Starting with 312 Urban Pale Ale. May crack a bomber of Dogfish Head 75 minute that I've been holding onto for awhile.

contingent on a possible Cousins-to-the-Lakers trade?  ;D

Oh, if that happens, it'll prob be Basil Hayden on the rocks or Oban 14 neat!

At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

this LA times link says the Lakers will be on the clock (ie the draft will begin in earnest) at approximately 7:35

We haven't signed or drafted a huge name in many years .........I think pressure is going up for DA to get a Star on the team

Sometimes you know before the pick is even announced. You'll know on twitter pretty much immediately after. For example, someone will say, this is the Celtics pick at No 9..

Yep. IDK about a name but some undersized PF or dime-a-dozen wing isn't going to do it. Need a Mudiay or Russell or an exciting big like Porzingas, Turner, WCS..

As long as we pick Upshaw or Jonathan Holmes, in any position in the draft, I'd be happy. Anything else will be extra sundae.
