NBA Insider Marc Stein reported on Monday the Celtics are "among the teams that [are] monitoring Utah's Kelly Olynyk in advance of a potential trade pursuit."

Olynyk’s expiring salary is $12 million, thus I highly doubt he’s coming back to Boston this season. Given it’s a Marc Stein report, I thought it still warranted posting.

Can help stretch the floor and grab boards coming off the bench or fill in when Horford or Porzingis are out

This doesn't seem doable.

Maybe Ainge is going to help out the Celtics and KO by buying him out

I was thinking that too.

I am curious about the legality of doing a small trade with Jazz that includes picks, then Olynyk gets bought out and signed by the Celtics.

Would double apron team qualify to pick him up after buyout? I know we don’t for Hayward but he makes a lot more.

(I believe) Boston can sign a buyout player if they made less than $12.4 million (equivalent to Non-Tax MLE) on their previous contract.

A trade could be done, but it would be Pritchard, Kornet, and 3 of the other guys (Brissett, Svi, Banton, Stevens). Seems like a lot, though it could be softened with a 2nd trade using the TPE where Boston gets Dunn and Yurtseven or someone else.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Yeah way too much to give up plus team playing great..buyout candidates might be our best bet
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Jazz would be better off trading him though? And he does have value for playoff teams. What’s the probability that he’s bought out instead of being traded? KO would be a perfect fit for us if Brad can somehow make it happen.

I guess it just depends on what you think of Dunn vs. Pritchard and KO vs. Kornet.  Is the upgrade to KO worth the downgrade to Dunn.  May not be, but I don't think it is quite so clear cut either.

Pritchard’s improved performance lately make this idea much harder to swallow. That said, I really like the idea of bringing KO back to give the team a solid 3-vet center rotation.

It would, but Dunn is shooting ok (37.5% this year after 47.2% last year - in much fewer attempts) and Dunn is a much better passer than PP so provides a slightly different wrinkle.  PP is obviously better, but KO is also obviously better than Kornet.
