I think that's close to England's best team.

  • I like it when they have Heskey in the squad for Rooney to play off of. It creates so much more balance throughout the entire pitch for England, and gives their attack more diversity and options.
  • Also the Lamps-Gerrard midfield was broken up. Barry looks the best candidate to play the supporting role to one of those two players. I'd like to see Lamps play with Barry but I don't really care whether they go with him or Gerrard .... as long as only one of them is on the pitch and the other is on the bench.
  • Joe Cole on one wing and will cut inside ... and a lightening quick sideline winger on the other side of the pitch (Walcott or Young). I love that balance and differing attacking styles.
  • I also love not seeing Beckham's slow backside ruining England's attempts to push the tempo every time he touches the ball. If Beckham remains in the squad he needs to play in central midfield ... but that's packed so let's just leave him out
  • The one change I'd like to see is Micah Richards playing at right back instead of Wes Brown. Or when the wing back's defensive duties or less important (against weak sides) .. Glen Johnson.
  • Aside from RB I love that backline with Terry, Rio, Ashley and David James is a good keeper.

Great stuff, hopefully they'll keep that lineup together.

Who, are you serious about david james?  I wouldn't quite call him terrible, but good and david james are three words i'd never use in a sentance.  Joe Hart or Robert Green over him everyday of the week and twice on sunday.
David James is the best English keeper

Congratulations Denmark and Chile
                 ACF    and  Dirk

Both Solid solid wins...............
Thing are getting better for all of us!! ;D

Congrats on ESA  :)

I wouldn't call Denmark's win "solid".
Try "lucky"  ;) But it's about time we had
the small things going for us.
Anyway, we have four points from two games
and that's what matters.

Time to revive this thread:

Denmark faces Malta at home at
Parken tonight and should cruise
to a win. The Danes have 4 pts
from two games, including the shock
win vs. Portugal in Lisboa .

I expect an "easy" win and hopefully
a lot of goals from the Danish squad.

Feel free to share facts and your thoughts
on who your country is playing tonight
and why they'll bring home 3 pts  ;)

Guate had a horrible horrible game yesterday
and opens the door for Trinidad y Tobago who wins yesterday
Sadly for guatemalan people their final round is in really jeopardy. :(

  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
I can't stand Carlos Ruiz so I hope Guate is out, Trini always plays hard, and plays better than they are, but that was basically a U-21 squad for the US last night, that being said, I hope Trinidad advances.

I feel bad for US soccer fans, they just can't compete internationally. My parents were born in Spain so I root for Spain, I was born in Venezuela and they suck as much as the US. They could get better in time with Altidore and Adu

I'm glad England grabbed the win after another shakey start.  The first half really saw them struggle defensively against the passing of Belarus.  Never the less, I will gladly take the victory.  They are now undefeated in their opening four WCQs for the first time and are now 5 points above Croatia and Ukraine in Group 6 going into the break.  It is not over yet but it is a great start.

Wales gave as good as they received against Germany.  They played with a lot of heart and it's a shame they couldn't hold Germany to a draw.

They're not great, but they ain't that bad. Sadly they have regressed over the past few years, but they're better than Venezuela. They have a good team, not a top team, they have a real habit of getting star struck in games against real powers. Slowly but surely they will continue to climb in terms of talent, the country is too big and has too many athletes to not do so. Just imagine if someone like Lebron was a striker with his athleticism. More and more US players are playing club ball overseas, the more that happens the more kids here will realize the real possibility of making top money through soccer, and the more people will continue to play.

  • Welcome to the Loud House
Poland baby!
They need redemption for the poor showing in the Euro.
Podolski is scum and should never be playing for Germany.
That and the ridiculous penalty shot against Austria screwed them.
