The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

2013 Pick 2 OKC Thunder ($16.46 cap space)

PG: Jrue Holiday ($2.67 mil) Jamal Crawford ($5 mil)
SG: Alexey Shved ($2.93 mil) Keith Bogans ($1mil)
SF: Kevin Durant ($16.67 mil)
PF: Josh Smith ($13.20 mil)
C: Kendrick Perkins ($7.12 mil), Jason Thompson ($5.25 mil)

Coach: Paul Westphal

Might start Bogans over Shved now. Still need another sf and another bruiser at C

So I've broken down the rosters for the teams in the East, and here are the rankings I've come up with (for this season).

1. Knicks
2. Nets
3. Heat
4. Celtics
5. Hawks
6. Bulls
7. Wizards
8. Pacers

I think the Knicks have the most well rounded team overall.  Not really any major holes, and all their players are healthy (I think).  I'm not conceding my Nets would lose, however, in a H2H matchup.

I had to penalize the Heat slightly, as the overall back-court situation is a little weak, and the two best players in the back-court are currently injured.  The Bulls, Hawks and Wizards also were penalized for injuries.  If any of these teams gets their injured players back, I'd move them past the Celtics.

The team sitting on the outside looking in, is the Bucks.  If Gasol (Wizards) is unable to come back healthy, I'd probably knock them down a bit, and slide the Bucks into the 8th spot.

I can roll with this.  I'm pretty proud of the fact that I turned the freakin' Wizards into a darkhorse contender.

Not sure what Shved gives you. I think you'd be better served by a shooting specialist as a counterbalance to Bogans/Crawford.

Also, if by bruiser, you mean a hulk, I am not sure I agree. I think a strong but mobile 4/5 type would be better than a lumbering 7-footer. You have Perk as the enforcer. Find another energetic big like JT who can clean glass and run the floor, and outrun your opposition.

Yes, I would start Bogans. Give him 15-20mpg.

I would run Shved as my backup PG (10-15mpg) and Crawford (25-30mpg) as my backup SG.

Do you think a team without a dominant perimeter player can ever really contend?

Except for SG, a great starting five. But you still have Perk starting and nothing good at SG and zero depth behind Durant and Smith. I think given how many very good teams have finished out their rotational players, its only fair to allow you to fill your rotation out before comparing this to others.

Right now, its a very good to contending squad. Reminds me a bit of the OKC squads just before and after Harden got there. Had to get that SG and develop the depth. Good, just not there yet. Of course if OKC fills in some great depth and gets an actual starting quality SG, then they are one of the best in this exercise.

Ok so I've battled off my cold and feeling pretty good.  Time to get up on the chopping block.

Indiana Pacers

PG: Steve Nash / Kirk Hinrich
SG: Paul George / Tony Allen
SF: Arron Afflalo / Tony Allen
PF: Antwan Jamison / Lamar Odom / Patrick Patterson
C:  Roy Hibbert / Chris Wilcox / Patrick Patterson

Some input on who you'd start at the 4 would be great. I was really enamoured with Patterson, but if he can't play more than 10 minutes for the Kings I'm not sure if he should be getting big minutes on a fringe playoff team.  Also, Afflalo at the 3 or George?

I might be wrong here, but this squad kind of reminds me of the current Houston Rockets.  Maybe a bit less offense and a touch more defense.

Afflalo at SG, George at SF.

I feel better about Jamison and Odom as 6th men than as starters. Is there anything left on the board (overpriced, likely) that could work as an option?

Think I got my Regular Season Rotation Down.

Jeremy Lin (30) / Jason Kidd (18)
JR Smith (30) / Jason Kidd (7) / Jared Dudley (11)
Jared Dudley (24) / Shane Battier (24)
Kevin Garnett (30) / Chris Kaman (7) / Epke Udoh (11)
Tim Duncan (30) / Chris Kaman (18)

Positions can get a little shuffled but those are the minutes you're looking at.
I love the front court but question the addition of Kaman as TD and KG really aren't playing too much PF at the moment. I could see some problems with fast, athletic, perimeter PFs and how this team would cope with them. Bron, Melo, Smith, Love, etc will go bonkers as soon as your rotation goes TD and Kaman. I thought a more traditional PF would have worked better as an addition.

I like the Battier/Dudley platoon probably a lot more than most but the back court is just...yuck. If Lin isn't brilliant or Smith not going 6 for 9 from long range without somehow disrupting everyone else's rhythm every night, then you ain't winning a lot of games in this league.

Still would pay money every night to watch this team for the entertainment value alone.

- First, how good would the KG/TD front court defense be by mid season going into the playoffs? Wow!

- How long before KG just clocks Smith after taking yet another 28 footer with 18 seconds left on the shot clock?

- Just how fast could a brilliant kid like Lin learn from two of the best player role models you would ever want to be around? Could their influence over a year transform Lin into something more?

- Dudley, Battier, TD, KG, Kaman, Udoh, Lin, Kidd. They're just a bunch of seemingly decent and good guys to cheer for. It would be easy to fall in love with this team, win or lose.

- Besides you are the Celtics!!
