How about the following trade:

Ray Allan, Avery Bradley to Atlanta for Josh Smith and K.Hinrich

Sure.  Can't see why Atlanta would do it though.

Atlanda would want a PF/C back and probably a pick(s).

ray , bass , jo + 2 first round picks for J.Smith , M.Wiliams

i think that's a fair deal. We give them quality SG and PF plus expiring in JO plus two picks. We get J.Smith and probably a bad contract for Marvin. But this is a deal that Atlanta would consider, if we offer them KG and Ray why would they do it? This way they will get picks, expiring contracts and enough quality.

Without checking, I'd be fairly surprised if the salaries came close to matching.

Yup, that is more realistic.  Atlanta is not giving away their best healthy player (Horford is still out, right?), but if a team is willing to take Williams off their hands, and give them a couple picks, then they would consider it.

This would also put Atlanta right in the thick of the Howard sweepstakes this summer, BTW.

Yup, makes sense, but only if Boston is willing to forgo free agency this summer and is really sold on Smith.  But it is realistic.

if we get J.Smith that's a trade for the future. Rondo,Smith maybe they will get Howard but that's a long shot. Howard is going to Nets or Mavs so plan B is to make a running team. Sign J.Green or E.Gordon or J.McGee. Rondo Smith and some of this players thet would be exiting athletic team to watch.

J.Smith gives DA more options in the summer not less. Howard is first option but Rondo Smith duo is good enough to rebuild with some other guys like the above mentioned.

Why wold Atlanta do this?  They are ahead of us in the standings and the trade doesn't help them in the long or short term.  It's my understanding they want to build around J. Smith not trade him...

  • Rondo = Good
I don't see Atlanta trading Smith for anybody on the Celtics other than Rondo or Pierce.

Yup, makes sense, but only if Boston is willing to forgo free agency this summer and is really sold on Smith.  But it is realistic.

You also have to be sold on Pierce being able to bring it for the rest of his contract, as the Marvin Williams deal would impinge on 2013 cap space, and the ability to find a Pierce replacement in free agency that year.

I'd rather do Pierce/Bass for Smith/Williams and keep the two picks.  Then use one of the picks to dump Williams on another team and use cap space to add a piece to the beginning building blocks of Rondo, Smith and cost-controlled assets like Bradley, JJJ and the remaining pick.

TRADE 1
To Boston: Josh Smith
To Atlanta: Ray Allen, Brandon Bass, and two #1's

Atlanta gets an interesting replacement for Smith plus two #1's and a veteran stabilizer on a team that needs it.

Boston gets a young athletic PF

TRADE 2
To Boston: Josh Smith, Michael Beasley
To Atlanta: Paul Pierce, Keyon Dooling, Craig Smith
To Minnesota: Jamal Crawford
To Portland: Kirk Hinrich

Blockbuster gets us two young players to build on while still maintaining cap room.

TRADE 3
To Boston: Josh Smith and Jamal Crawford
To Atlanta: Paul Pierce, Keyon Dooling, Craig Smith
To Portland: Kirk Hinrich

We end up getting a potential replacement option for Ray Allen if we wanted to do so.

TRADE 4
To Boston: Joe Johnson and Josh Smith
To Atlanta: Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Brandon Bass, and the Clippers #1

Boston foregoes the free agent market basically locking in Johnson and Smith.    It allows them to concentrate on securing Kevin Garnett long term if they want to do so.

Atlanta gets an overhaul and a better distribution of age.   They get some flexibility with Ray Allen's expiring contract.
