Our depth seems to be a bit less than anticipated, because of the release of Walker, the disappointing career-start for Scheierman and the lack of offensive progress for Springer, Walsh and Tillman. In other words we could use an extra low-usage defensively strong veteran who easily fits the team.

The best option on the table at the trade deadline might be our familiar Javonte Green. The Pelicans have had a bad start of the season and considering the very strong competition they might not be able to even reach the play-in. A good team to do business with. A veteran on an expiring contract in Green doesn't have huge value. Perhaps Scheierman, Tillman or combined with a second round pick?

Then our playoff-ready roster looks like this (where Green and Kornet are merely injury-covers):

Guards: White, Holiday, Pritchard
Forwards: Tatum, Brown, Hauser, Green
Bigs: Porzingis, Horford, Queta, Kornet

Could be a nice addition.  What would be the deal, trade Springer and a pick of some sort?  Could NOP do that deal (about $2.5M outgoing, about $4.0M incoming)?  I don't think we really need to do this deal.  We are feeling it right now because Brown is out and Hauser is not playing well.  But how much does Javonte Green really change that?  More than Springer, yes, so if we could swap Springer and say a 2nd for Green, and save about $1.5M, great.  But I would not expect this to change things all that much.  If these deal were on the table though, I would say yes, do it.
