Cooper Flagg

Flagg led Duke past #17 Arizona last night 69-55. Cooper finished with 24pts, 6rebs, 3ast, 2blks, 1stl. It?s crazy that he?s only 17. Legit 6?9? right now and could grow an inch or two.

It's not too late to tank, haha.

So he gets drafted at 18 years old, goes to Utah or Washington for 4 years on his rookie contract and then joins the Celtics as a FA at 22/23 years old. I could live with that. 

Utah gets him and Danny trades him to us in a few years for an aging Porzingis and four #1s.

Hey, it could happen. Players ask for trades all the time and most of them end up getting moved. Hopefully Cooper wants to come home to New England at some point and play for the team he grew up rooting for. That would be a great story.

It is a pipe dream.  Restricted free agents have little leverage.  I can't remember any of them forcing a team to trade them.  If a #1 pick were to get traded that soon, it would be because he is a bust or near bust.

Whether they are a RFA or not is irrelevant. Star players under contract ask to be moved and get traded all the time. Kawhi, Harden(Several times), Durant(several times), Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, Paul George, Jimmy Butler, Donovan Mitchell, etc. The players run the league.

Are there any examples of young stars coming off their rookie contract getting traded?  Its normally the stars 3rd contract they move off of.  Players get their 2nd contract with a player option on that 4th year.  Team moves that player because otherwise they get nothing back.  With the 2nd apron penalties what would the cs position be in that 2031 or 2032 season flagg would get moved.  I would love the local boy to be a Celtic bit it's a 0.1% chance of happening. 


Now if the cs look to cut salary after this year would they be able to trade JB for flagg?  That's about the only way I could see the cs getting him.  But why would a team want to trade a young potential face of the league for a 28yr old Brown unless JB puts them in a position to win a chip.

James Harden was traded during his rookie deal. Money was a factor,  but he was also unhappy with his role. If player doesn?t want to be on a team, they get moved.

Edit* Chris Webber was traded from GS to Washington after his rookie year. Apparently he hated playing for Don Nelson and said he wouldn?t re-sign with them.

How could we forget KP! Porzingis asked NY to trade him while he was still on his rookie deal. They moved him to Dallas.

Looked similar to Banchero to me. Impressive combination of superior size, superior quickness and superior athleticism. It was impressive to see Flagg able to beat up smaller wing players by moving inside for deep catches or post ups. Or take big players outside and beat them off the dribble.

He doesn't look the smoothest of creators but he has the quickness to get by people. Reminds me of a young Paul George. He had the quickness and athleticism to beat people but was lacking in his handles & passing for the first half of his career.

The defensive talent is hugely impressive. The rebounding. The offense seems 2nd to his defensive chops. An above average offensive player but a spectacular defensive forward.

Paul George / Banchero are the guys Flagg reminds me of.

I think Embiid is worth little more than Kemba was at this point .  Maybe he can stand flat footed and shoot over short guys . 

I saw a Doctors show about Embiid , had a really good synopsis of his problems .  He is not injured as in he can ever get recovered back to normal , his knee meniscus is worn out , he doubts the meniscus can be trimmed anymore , it?s about gone and cartilage shredded, Embiid wants to play bad ,  his body doesn?t agree, it seems there is not enough meniscus to serve him in the NBA anymore.  He didn?t injure it in the Olympics,  it?s a continuation of a degrading knee.  .  Rest 4 weeks and play 15 minutes .
