If I remember right, Ainge was smart and signed him to a 3 year 6 Million dollar contract, & he used part of the mid level exception to sign him.

Luckily Ainge didn't read Celticsblog at that time when everyone scoffed at the 9 pts, 4 rebounds Vitor was putting up in Spain. :)

Great signing.  I know its only 2 games, but even preseason he looks the part.  At worst, you have a 10-20 minute backup guy.  I think we have more than that though.

Fav more than makes up for the Fab Melo disaster......draft pick

Also think Pressey is going to be a good guy to rest Rondo next year.

DA was also right about Brooks he is a head case and not NBA material ,  hope he is gone soon , tired of looking at his disgruntled face on the bench

He is getting the minutes and putting up the numbers.  If he continues, he is a serious ROY candidate.
Nah, Oladipo has this one wrapped up, I think.

But Faverani will be good -- he's very skilled, and has a good understanding of how to play both offense and defense (cuts without the ball, nose for the offensive rebound, closing up space on defense, not fouling).

I guess this is what you call fundamentally sound, and something our younger bigs should look to emulate.

When is the last time a Celtic (any Celtic) had at least 12/18/6 in a game!!!??? Never mind a rookie in his second regular season game!!

Heck whose the last ROOKIE to ever do that!?

No unrealistic beliefs that he'll continue putting up numbers anywhere near this, but if he could do 10/6/2 regularly he'll be ALL Rookie and at least a shot at ROY! Our best in quite awhile.

No Celtics has put up those numbers in a game since blocks became a standard stat in 1985-86.

Last season, Bucks rookie John Henson had a 17/25/7 game.

The only two rookies to match those numbers since 1985 are Henson (once) and Shaq (three times).

If he can be a consistent 15/12 Center he's a starter in today's NBA. Bif IF, though.

He needs to keep working and he'll have a long NBA career. He's a player, but it would be nice if he worked on his physical abilities also.

So far, he's a first team All-Rookie.

Consistant 12 Rebs would put him in the top 3 for rebounding in the league. I'm not quite sure he needs to produce that high to be a starter.

Nope. He would be a star center these days with those numbers.

Gorman said during the game that the last celtic to put up those type of numbers in a single game was Dino Radja

Michael Carter Willams is the front runner so far, I think.  Which sounds ridicous after 2 games.

Haven't been able to see a game yet this year. How is his defense?

He's very good in closing space and challenging shots without fouling. He actually tries to make the short hard to convert, not to get his hands on each ball going up. I think this is a solid foundation.

He's still prone to missing some assignments, but he's already far ahead what of what I thought he would be.
