  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Greivis Vasquez (10/10/5)
Klay Thompson (18ppg)
Jeff Green (20/5/5)
Zach Randolph (12/12)
Omer Asik (11/12)

That's definitely a 40+ win team at the least, no more lottery-land!
Suggestions? I really like Green at the 3 with this team.

I think the floor spacing is rather decent, the rebounding should be fantastic. I just need a strong bench, and I think this can be a contender. I also like this Randolph+Asik pairing more than Randolph+Gasol.

I'm worried about Asik taking Z-Bo's space down low.

Other than that, it's a pretty solid team.

Thanks. Could you define "solid"? I'm still looking to contend some how.

ZBo clogs space up blocking out PFs and Asik is a very, very good defensive center.

I think I need a stretch PF still though.

solid in this regard.

I think Greivis is a very good PG, but he's turnover prone, that could potentially hurt your team.

I saw a lot of Klay Thompson since I live here in the Bay, I love this kid's game. Only problem I have with him is he's not as quick, so he's not effective against quick guards defensively, but he puts in the effort so it's just a very minor setback.

Green is a very good defender, inconsistent scorer.

Z-Bo, no explanation needed.

Asik is a strong defensive Center.

You have the defense, but not so much on scoring. Klay and Z-Bo are your only reliable scorers. Your right though, this is a 40+ win team.

PG:  Tony Parker
SG:  Monta Ellis
SF:
PF:  Tristan Thompson
C:  Pau Gasol

Ideally I want Ellis as a sixth man on this team, but I'm not sure I'll be able to find starter-caliber wings this late that would allow me that luxury.  If I can't, I'll probably try to trade him because I don't like him starting alongside Parker and Gasol.

Thompson hasn't developed his range yet, but he's becoming a versatile defender, an excellent rebounder and can put up points without having plays drawn up for him.  He also has upside, whereas everybody else on the team has already peaked.

My primary concern for this team is spacing.  Ideally, both of my wings will be able to hit the three and defend.  I don't need them to be great scorers, just good enough shooters that they can punish defenders for helping off of them.

Thoughts?

Turned the terrible twosome of Jennings and Monta into this:

PG: B.Jennings
SG: W.Matthews
SF: 3.12
PF: D.Lee
C: N.Pekovic

I call them Team 3s 'n' boards, because I have two great 3pt shooters and two great offensive rebounders.

I also like how my defense is developing. Matthews, Lee, and Pekovic are all known for good defense at their respective positions, and I plan on drafting some good defensive bench players at the 1 and the 3.

How's it look?

Parker and Pau would be great on the Pick and Roll

I'm not a fan of Monta in the same lineup with Parker though. One will render the other ineffective because they kind of have similar play styles. Parker is just more crafty than a quicker Ellis, but they both command the ball.

I maybe the only one here who would agree that D.Lee is a good defender, one on one on the interior at least. Lee however, is not a good help defender, so is Pek, so that can spell trouble for your bigs.

Your bigs also have no shot blocking presence. Tons of rebounding, but no shot altering presence.

Jennings is an enigma to me. He's not a good defender as well.

I agree.  That's why I want to bring Monta off the bench.  If I can't find a way to do that, I'll try to trade him for a more traditional 2 guard.  Not that he's exactly a wanted commodity around CelticsBlog, but it only takes one interested party who needs scoring.

I want to say something but I'm afraid you and Roy would tag team me, so never mind.

Aren't you clogging the lanes for Rose with Favors and Jefferson together? I know Al can hit mid range J's but, he always play low post.

Roy, no TAG TEAM!!!

Change your frontcourt, they're terrible together I think. Or get one coming off the bench. Why do you not have a SF .-.

Lee is a very good post defender, but is a poor help defender and gets exposed when asked to guard the perimeter.  Together with Pekovic, you have nobody who will regularly contest shots at the rim.  That could be a problem.  Having said that, you're going to have a bruising front line, and opponents will need a lot of ice packs after games against this team.  Extremely physical.

Wesley Matthews is a very nice player, and I was hoping he'd drop to me at the 3.9.

I'm not crazy about Jennings.  I see him as a less talented Iverson.  He's capable of some pretty explosive offensive performances, but I don't know that he can make teammates better like you'd ideally want a PG to do.

Beat me to it.

Wallace is not consistent enough of a shooter, and plays inside. Unless Wade turns into a catch and shoot midrange to three range guy, him and Dragic plays the same way, attacking the basket. One renders the ability of the other.

Two solid shot blockers in Gortat and Crash though, I think they can hide Boozer's lack of defense.
