What do people think the new-look Washington Wizards?

Tony Parker, Pau Gasol, and Nikola Pekovic.  No current 2nd-rounder (something I'm working to rectify) but a pile of picks in the third and fourth rounds.

I don't like Pau Gasol and Pekovic together.

It is the same spacing issues offensively that Pau Gasol has suffered through with Dwight Howard and Andrew Bynum. Both players want the same real estate (low post touches) and Pekovic won't play away from the basket so Pau Gasol will be forced to spend an inordinate amount of time in the high post shooting jumpers. Their individual and combined lack of quickness/mobility defensively will be a negative too.

I love Pau Gasol and I fully agree that he has some top seasons left in him. I like Pekovic quite a bit too but I don't like the two of them together. I don't think they fit well.

Someone like Millsap would've been perfect for Pau Gasol and Tony Parker.

I like Gasol playing at the PF spot a lot more than at center.  I think he lacks strength as a center and can be bullied.  That's why I wanted to pair him with a bruiser like Pek - let somebody else play bully ball so he doesn't have to.

On offense, the low post is Gasol's territory.  I actually don't like Pekovic as much down there.  In the post, I see him as a brute-force player without a lot of skill.  I like him more as a super-garbage man - set picks, be mobile, cut, crash the glass hard.  He's an excellent offensive rebounder, and combined with Gasol's interior passing ability he'll still get his touches.  But I didn't draft him to be a low post iso kind of player.

I like Pau Gasol at either PF or C.

If at PF, I like Pau playing alongside a center who is comfortable in the high post. Someone who can vacate that space in the paint and allow Pau to take advantage of his post game against smaller defenders. Like Marc Gasol does for him on the Spanish National team (or for Z-Bo in Memphis).

Pekovic won't do that for Pau. He wants to be in the paint smacking people around.

What about a guy like Stoudemire?  Do you think he'd fit with Pau?

Yep, very well.

I also think that power forward from Indiana would work very well with Pau.

Plus, a bigger more defensive capable option, the Wizards big man who joined from Denver would also be very good alongside Pau.

All three players would be deadly in the pick and roll game with Tony Parker too.

Came really close to drafting that guy on the Wizards.  He has played well in limited minutes for them this year.  Ultimately, I was scared off by the fact that he can't stay on the court.

Not crazy about Vasquez.  Would have much preferred Jeff Teague, if you wanted somebody cheap (although his deal is expiring... not sure how much we're taking that into consideration).  Still think Mike Conley fits that team well and is pretty inexpensive for what he provides.

He's averaging the numbers Rondo had the year before he got $44 mil, and still has two more years on contract

I see him as a case of "somebody has to get the stats" on a very bad team that has been without Eric Gordon for most of the year.  14 points on 13 shots doesn't impress me.

But he averages third most assists in the league. 9.4, he should have fun passing to Gasol and ZBo. FG% still going upwards, young player who has rising stock

Not quite sold on Vasquez yet especially with the other PG's available. He wouldve been a great option had he fallen but I do think some of those numbers are just because he happens to bring the ball up and somehow NBA teams will score regardless
CB Draft: Golden State Warriors - 14.23
PG: Bledsoe/Lin/ Harris
SG: Beal/ Henderson/ Ingram
SF: Winslow/McDermott/
PF: Turner/ Acy / Hernangomez
C: Adams/ Turner/ McRoberts

Except Vasquez won't be running the offense in Memphis.  The Grizzlies run much more through ZBo and Marc Gasol than they do a traditional PG.  Vasquez's passing ability is diminished on that team.

Looks like we'll just have to lead the league in assisting then.

Vasquez isn't as great as his stats make him out to be.

The guy is a poor shooter, poor finisher, and a poor defender.

Bad pick for Memphis.  Way better options available at that spot.  Very disappointing.

The thing I like about your team is that they can play a 'blue collar' style but then produce lots of exciting highlights at the same time.

Great combo of players.

Thanks, thats what I was going for since I knew I would get a top 10 player in the league.  Go for a grind it out type of game.
