The Utah Jazz have been active at the trade deadline in an effort to build around Mitchell.

"We'd like to thank Derrick, Jonas, and Rodney for their time with the Utah Jazz. In order to accommodate them, we wanted to send them to a playoff team. We think they will be given the opportunity to flourish in Minnesota and compete in the playoffs.

This move was about the future for us. We think Dieng fits our system better long-term, with his defense and his developing 3 point shot. We also liked Patton leading up to the draft and think he has a bright, bright future in the NBA.

With this deal, we also get under the luxury tax.

No trade announcement?  Just a PR piece?

As DefenseWinsChamps posted, the Timberwolves and Jazz have agreed on a trade.

Timberwolves receive - Derrick Favors, Rodney Hood, and Jonas Jerebko
Jazz receive - Gorgui Dieng and Justin Patton

Timberwolves Team Statement -

After days of negotiating with multiple different teams, the Minnesota Timberwolves have come to their first trade. We appreciate the Jazz organization for negotiating with us, and would like to welcome out newest members to the team. We would also like to thank Gorgui Dieng for all he has done to help rebuild Minnesota into a playoff team. We think he will flourish in a larger role in Utah, as well as Justin Patton. We feel like we couldn’t have let the opportunity to improve our bench and create cap space for next year go. Derrick Favors and Rodney Hood will turn a our bench into one of the league’s best, and Jonas Jerebko provides versatility. We are also excited to free up long term cap space. Stay tuned Timberwolves Nation for more interesting trades...

If there's one thing this has taught me, it's that being a GM is a stressful job, and idk how I would do it.

This is why I'm GLAD we have Ainge, but before making fun or blaming other bad GMs, we should realize they probably have a ton of pressure and confusion as well.  :P

76ers Acquire Avery Bradley and Boban Marjanovic from Pistons in Trade
From www.nba.com/sixers

Monday afternoon, the 76ers agreed to trade Amir Johnson, TJ McConnell, and a 2018 first round draft pick to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Avery Bradley and Boban Marjanovic.

In the team's press conference, GM Billy Jackson said, "Avery Bradley is an all-league defender who can fit perfectly into our team as an off-ball guard that defends the point guard position as well as anybody else in the NBA.  Our team has worked to build a defensive culture and we know that Avery will further embody that culture on a nightly basis."

On their newly acquired center he said, "Boban has played very well when given minutes as a backup throughout the early years of his career, but has lacked a consistent opportunity.  Boban will get to play starters minutes in games that we rest Joel, which we feel will further his development, and we are excited to seeing him grow as a player."

The Sixers say goodbye to Amir Johnson, who is heading back to the team he started his career on, and TJ McConnell who has spent the first 3 seasons of his career with Philadelphia.  "The guys in the locker room love TJ, especially Joel, and he will be missed.  He busted his butt every day while he was here and I think he will have a place in the NBA for a long time." Jackson said.

The team also sent out an unprotected 2018 first round draft pick in the deal which have been seen as highly valuable this offseason.  The #8 76ers are presently 3 games above the #9 Pistons in the East playoff standings and acquiring Bradley expects to improve the team while also hurting the Pistons.  Without a lot of expected open roster spots next offseason, the team management was willing to part with one future pick from their treasure chest which includes 4 second round picks in the 2018 draft.  There also seems to be a feeling that the 76ers aren't done dealing yet.
