This is honestly just a crazy idea, but figured it would be fun to post.  Mind you this is if the Clippers know they're going to lose Chris Paul and Blake Griffin for nothing.  Say Chris Paul leaves in free agency first, leaving Griffin wanting to leave for a contender.

I know we signed Horford last year, great player and all but I'm looking long term if I'm the Celtics.  Say we do all that's need to sign Hayward, hoping he'll take a little less so we could sign other pieces but if not we push all in.  What if we we make a call to the Clippers.  It's not something that happens often with a sign and trade but it would work here I believe.  Griffin is looking for a big deal but also knows injuries are a turn off to some teams .

Celtics Trade
Al Horford
Celtics 2018 1st
Celtics 2019 1st

Clippers Trade
Blake Griffin (Signs 3 years 75 million) just using this could be more

I'm going to say we play small ball but we could also use a center free agent.  But this what I'm saying the team is for the moment.

Center - Griffin
Power Forward - Crowder
Small Forward - Hayward
Shooting Guard - Bradley
Point Guard - Thomas

Point Guard - Fultz
Shooting Guard - Smart
Small Forward - Brown
Point Guard - Rozier
Center - Zizic
Power Forward - Yabusele

This was just having a fun idea nothing to serious but something that could happen just wouldn't.

Be pretty hard to sign future free agents if you trade a major free agent less than one year after signing him. Agents don't like that stuff and will steer their clients away from Boston.

Besides, I would rather have Horford on this team than Griffin. Or simply sign Griffin and don't sign Hayward.

Griffin is less of a center than Horford plus who will replace Griffin for the other 60 games that he is hurt  :police:

I know it would probably hurt the chance for free agents but title contention also attracts them.  I just look at Griffin being a younger piece, but like I said I know it's not going to happen.  But it was a fun trade that could actually happen.

Very low probability that Horford or IT are traded anytime soon.

If we trade Horford, our credibility among the people around the league will be out. We want to be able to sign free agents, so we can't trade him.
