Looking at Mocks and players declaring there will be some nice players projected early in the 2nd round. This is going to be a great place to find cheap young potential role players.

some examples

Hollis Thompson  6'8 great outside shooter (Jason Kapono like)

Dramond Green  6'7

John Jenkins 6'4 great outside shooter

Mavs
Wiz
Hornet

very true.  I'm hoping the Bucks can catch NY for the last playoff spot so we can get their 2nd rounder this year.  Danny does a great job of finding talent late in the draft and I'd love it if he had another pick this coming year.

And with Amare out indefinitely, that becomes more plausible.

I am ambivalent about that though since I feel that the healthy Knicks matchup well against both the Bulls and the Heat and that they would be a tough out in the first round.

I can really see Danny pulling two good players out of this 2nd round if he has two picks. With the cap space being so important cheap 2nd round contracts that turn into assets can really help the rebuild.

With Draymond Green hitting 3s at 40+%, I think he'll be gone in the 1st round.  Even if he can't defend a chair, his combination of high-level rebounding, playmaking/facilitating and 3-point jumpshooting make him too intriguing to pass up at the end of the first round.

How do the C's have Milwaukee's #2....no record of it on NBA Draft future picks

The Dooling trade. Pick is top-44 protected. If the Bucks finish out of the playoffs, no pick is sent to the Celtics.

I wasn't aware of the top 44 protected aspect of this pick.  Go Bucks!!

2 games out of the 8th spot. I'll be riding shotgun on the Bucks bandwagon.

Jae Crowder is also a nice player.
Some view him as a late first others as a second.
Jack of all trades, master of none.

if the Knicks fail to make playoffs, that will be one of the biggest disappointment of the season

Amare and Melo + Tyson and the emergence of JLin. Going into the offseason there will be so much heat in NY

I've seen Robert Sacre going anywhere from late first to mid-second.  He's a great defender.  Nasty inside, but can also capably guard point guards off the dribble.  His offensive game is still relatively limited, but has steadily improved in college.  But he's a chiseled 7-footer who's an inside presence, and could be a real steal.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Here are my "gems of the second round".

Jae Crowder
Draymond Green
Will Barton
Robert Sacre
Kim English
Renardo Sidney

In my opinion these guys could be a big contributor in any team. Of course they have issues, game, physicals and/or attitude which is why I think they fall in the 2nd round, but the reward is pretty high for these guys.
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

This is TP wisdom right here.

2nd rounders on rookie deals that can actually play allow more cap space spent in other spots.

2nd rounders that can play eliminate the need to find rotation players for the minimum.

2nd rounders that can play stick around cheap and learn the system and defense.

2nd rounders that can play become excellent trade bait.

I've kept an eye on Renardo Sidney ever since Pierce talked about him to the Herald a few years back when Sidney was going into his senior year in high school.  Pierce raved about him, saying he could play in the NBA right then, that Pierce was caught off guard by how good Sidney was and had to raise his game to beat him.  The whole thing was so random; it was a regular weekday, no big high school event coming up, there was no family connection between Pierce and Renardo and Pierce was just taken to talking about Sidney.  Sidney was ranked top five in his class at that point.

That said, I've failed to be impressed with Sidney in any game I've seen, be it high school or college.  He just doesn't like playing basketball.  He never puts his hands up in defense, he doesn't bother to try to move his feet, he shows almost zero passion.  When you're overweight as it is AND you have no motor AND you've been involved in several fights and been suspended multiple times, you have zero shot at playing in the NBA.  The character and motor flaws are gigantic.  I doubt he ever plays a second in the NBA.

It's sad too because he's very skilled.
