Celtics aquire Bill Walker SF from Kansas State from washington wizards for cash considerations i love this pickup before he tore his knee he was compared to VINCE CARTER hes still a monster dunker i love this move and would also have liked Gary forbes  hopefully they can sign him as an Undrafted free agent because hes a scoring slasher we need to back up Ray Allen

To me if a guy is a tweener, and might not really be a fit as a PG, then he [dang]ed well better be able to shoot well.  If that's the case, then I don't want the guy.  If you think he can be Rondo's backup at PG, then maybe.

Walker is a SF/SG. You are not drafting him to play PG.

Bill Walker is supposed to be very intelligent. That's a step up from Gerald Green.

Interesting pick. Smart kid, a little bit prone to disappear at Kansas State. Rather mercurial in disposition, as well.

Mercurial... very emotional player.  But if he can learn to channel that emotion to lift up his game, it could turn out to be an asset.
What better teacher for channeling emotion than KG?

Well, Walker has got to get himself healthy first.  After he has done his surgery/rehab, we'll see what he has to offer, but athleticism he has in bunches.  I also like the bulk he has for his size.  6'6 230 is very strong for a SF.  Good call from OP for picking this one.  I was not expecting the C's to buy out his rights, but it happened.  Ainge has done a great job building up his bench through the years, it paid off in the playoffs this year, and could be a strength again for next year.  Good stuff.  Hats off to Danny for taking the risks, and hopefully they pan out.

It would be interesting to know whether Washington originally drafted Walker for themselves, or if they were drafting him for Danny all along.  I'm also curious as to how much cash this cost the Celts.

Do they usually announce eventually how much cash was sent?

Sometimes.  Like, I know we paid $200,000 for Leon Powe, but we also sent a future pick there, as well.

I am also curious to know if Washington selected Walker before Danny could, or did Danny draft him.

Walker is the type of player that could be better in the NBA than in college. Apparently he was getting his explosiveness back (he wasn't at full strength during the year) during the pre-draft workouts - before the new injury.  At least the new injury isn't serious.  I think it is a great 2nd round pick.  I am not so sure about his outside shooting, it wasn't great in the games I saw. However, if he has the right attitude and can get healthy, he will stick in the league and be effective. The training staff needs to work with him to get his knees back to full strength and keep his weight in check. Worth the gamble, that is for sure.
