Allonzo Trier got his Knicks breakthrough in December. And it’s paving the way for his buddy’s breakthrough.

The Knicks are signing guard Kadeem Allen off their G League Westchester squad to a two-way NBA deal, The Post’s Marc Berman confirmed. The Knicks had an open two-way slot because the pact of Trier — like Allen, an Arizona product — was converted to an NBA contract.

Allen is known most for his defense after being named to the All-NBA G League Defensive Team last year, when he was with the Celtics’ affiliate. The Knicks brought him in this summer, and he’s averaged 13.7 points on 46.8 percent shooting from the field with Westchester, with 5.2 rebounds and 5.7 assists in 30.7 minutes.

Allen, who turns 26 on Tuesday, was a second-round pick (53rd overall) in 2017 by Boston.

Good for him. I always liked the way he played defense. There is a place for him in this league as a 3rd stringer defensive specialist. More than that if he can improve his offense.

He’s Starting tonight!  :D
Hopefully he’ll earn a standard contract eventually.
Even Nader is a rotation player this year

I believe that Yabusele can be a rotation player on weaker teams. Ojeleye would be a solid rotation player on any other team. Wanamaker can be the back-up PG on most teams. Williams could be a starter on a rebuilding team. Theis would be a regular rotation player on any team. Rozier would be a starting PG on half of the teams.

They're all undervalued since there's not enough playing time for them. I think that even Dozier has potential.
The Celtics are by far the deepest team in the league.

I liked Kadeem when he played for us and the Red Claws. Hopefully he can take advantage of the Knicks' situation and show he belongs in the NBA.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

I'll be the first to admit I'm not too familiar with Kadeem.
Maybe I just haven't been following the end of the bench as closely now that I'm working instead of being a slacker in college, and maybe I'm just getting old...

Or maybe because we've been getting all these very much identical players? Now we have Jabari Bird, Kadeem Allen, Dozier, and Wanamaker. And as far as I'm aware, all of them are athletic, defense-first wings.

We used to have guys like Semi Erden, the big Euro guy. And Stiemsma, the guy who blocked a lot of shots and is awesome. And Luke Harangody, the guy who looks kind of like Guile from Street Fighters, and is 6'9 and moves weird and shoots weird.

Doesn't help when Jabari Bird shares a last name with Larry Bird, and Kadeem Allen shares a last name with Ray Allen, and Dozier kind of sounds like Rozier... they all just end up registering as Celtic-sounding names in my head...
