FTAs per 100 possessions by teams.

So I will start with offense on left and they see where they rank defensively on the right.

ORL #1 offense #24 defense
PHI #2 offense #27 defense
MIL #3 offense #7 defense (decent comp)
PHX #4 offense #9 defense (decent comp)
LAL #5 offense #1 defense

ATL #6 offense #13 defense
NOP #7 offense #10 defense
HOU #8 offense #30 defense
MIN #9 offense #19 defense
LAC #10 offense #8 defense

I am surprised Minnesota is not doing a better job keeping their opponent off the line. All that size with Gobert in the paint and those big long defensive wings. Double big lineups. They should be among the league leaders in avoiding to concede FTs.

If we reverse it and look at who is the best at keeping opponents off the line

LAL #1 defense #5 offense
BOS #2 defense #21 offense
TOR #3 defense #17 offense
MIA #4 defense #11 offense
NYK #5 defense #13 offense

SAS #6 defense #29 offense
MIL #7 defense #3 offense
LAC #8 defense #10 offense
PHX #9 defense #4 offense
NOP #10 defense #7 offense

So there is a bunch of teams that get ruled out right at the jump as being average or below average in one of the two categories.

Milwaukee look the most promising. Then Phoenix and New Orleans.

#1 Lakers 23.8 FTAs per 100 minus 17.9 FTAs per 100 conceded for a net of 5.9 FTAs per 100 possessions.

#2 Bucks 24.4 FTAs per 100 minus 21.3 FTAs per 100 given away for a net of 3.1 FTAs per 100.

#3 Suns 24.3 FTAs per 100 minus 21.6 FTAs per 100 conceded for a net of 2.7 FTAs per 100 possesssions.

#4 Pelicans 23.5 FTAs per 100 minus 21.6 FTAs per 100 conceded for a net of 1.9 FTAs per 100.

Huge difference for LAL versus their nearest competitors.

Boston was at 21.3 FTAs per 100 minus 18.2 FTAs per 100 conceded for a net of 3.1 FTAs. So they ranked higher than PHX or NOP and tied with MIL despite being only 21st in FTAs earned on offense.

Boston and LAL were well ahead of the pack in limiting FTAs conceded. Both around 18 per 100 possessions. It jumps to 20 for 3rd place. 21 per 100 at 7th place. 22 at 15th place. So large advatange for both Boston and LAL over the trailing pack here.

Philly was almost neutral. 24.7 FTAs on offense (2nd best) per 100 vs 24.4 FTAs (27th) given away on defense. Only a net of 0.3 FTAs per 100 possessions. I wonder how that number would look if we had numbers only for games Embiid played.

LA Clippers were 23.1 FTAs per 100 vs 21.5 per 100 on defense so a net of 1.6 FTAs per 100 possessions. A little behind New Orleans.

I was curious were Denver ranked. 25th in fouls drawn (20.8 per 100) and 21st in fouls given away (22.9). A net of -2.1 FTAs per 100 possessions.

Atlanta at 6th (23.7 per 100) and 13th (21.9 per 100) were a net of 1.8 FTAs per 100 possessions. In between LAC and NOP.

Denver has seen their 29-point 2nd quarter lead against Memphis cut in half.  We’ll see if they pull a Celtics tonight also.

How I wish they could investigate the refs too.

Yeah this is a pretty wild story. In a lot of ways, the NBA is less likely to get players to throw games/do illicit things tied to gambling because their salaries are so high. However, if you are Porter and making 440k and may not make that again after this year (very much a fringe NBA player) someone comes to him with 200,000 to do something like not hit a 3 and he will at least think about it. He may have had a chance of getting away with it once but doing it twice was absolutely insane.

This Faker Bucks game is turning into a nail biter, Fakers clinging to a 2 pt lead with 40 sec to go in OT after being like 20 pts down the whole game
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Such a ridiculous foul call for Dame there. Clear moving screen on Middleton before that, too.

Dame never misses. The Bucks will be tough.

But this dang Lakers squad hung on tight in Milwaukee. AD3 with 32/21...all without LeBron.

EDIT: gets blocked by AD and 2OT here we come

The Celtics past playoffs have you in a panic. Enjoy the ride. Every team in the playoffs will be tough. Nature of the beast.

He’s 8-25 tonight and has missed several big shots down the stretch in both regulation and OT  ;D

Giannis being a complete non factor late in games is a godsend for the league.

The Lakers are blowing this in double OT. Just awful decision-making on offense every trip down.

That said, the Bucks' defense still looks awful, especially in transition or even semi-transition.

This Bucks perimeter defense is hilarious lol Hopefully that Dame/Beasley miscommunication leading to the Reaves three is the dagger.

And for all the talk of "clutch" Dame, he's 9-28 tonight and has had many big misses down the stretch. Also, even the supposedly "clutch" Bucks are blowing this game down the stretch in crunch time, including missing free throws down the stretch.

Takes the sting off of last night's loss a little bit.
