Hoopsworld, of course, is the "source" that told us that Maggette signing with the Spurs was imminent, and that Posey would resign in Boston within 24 hours (as of yesterday).  If that wasn't enough to damage their credibility, there's this:

There have been a couple of bizarre rumors floating around about Carlos Boozer lately. One, now a couple of weeks old, had him going to Miami. Today's rumor has him going to Charlotte.

You can understand the logic. Charlotte lets Emeka Okafor go to the Clippers and works a deal to bring in a replacement. Boozer would certainly be a major upgrade to Okafor, and would make the Bobcats a force to be reckoned with. What you can't understand is why on earth anyone would actually think the Jazz want to trade Carlos Boozer . . .anywhere . . .for anyone.

Jazz GM Kevin O'Connor recently told HOOPSWORLD he has no intention of making a big trade this summer. He's happy to re-sign Deron Williams and move forward with the core group he currently has in place. That may even mean Andrei Kirilenko stays, though that's certainly up in the air.

But let's step back from that for a moment. Let's say the Stockton-to-Malone combination of Williams and Boozer is not the long-term plan in Utah and that Jerry Sloan isn't completely thrilled with their development (which he is). Today's rumor has the Bobcats sending Sean May (yes, the Sean May who missed all of last season) and Gerald Wallace to Utah for Boozer. There's a weird tie in the story, which is that a member of Bobcats was in Utah to see a medical specialist, but that was Adam Morrison, who had absolutely no contact with the Jazz while he was there.

It does seem Gerald Wallace may be available for the right deal, as we've seen several rumors about him changing teams. That in itself seems weird, since the Bobcats just locked him up long-term last summer. But where there's smoke there's usually fire and the Bobcats played very well during a couple of stretches when Wallace was injured. There's certainly more to a story about Wallace being traded than there is about Boozer going anywhere. As the title suggests, that ain't gonna happen.

The reason we're hearing discussion at all is that Boozer has an opt-out next summer and there's speculation that he might decide to use it. Fans in Utah are understandably lery of Boozer, who literally robbed a blind man in Cleveland. That said, all indications are that Boozer will re-up with Utah and play with Deron Williams for years to come.

Sounds pretty serious, right?  At the very least, it sounds like a legit rumor, right?  I mean, otherwise, why even discuss it?

Well, turns out that the source is a poster named "CarolinaCash" on a RealGM message board:

This rumor is hearsay so lock this up if you want. Sean May and his girlfriend were at a wedding I was at this past weekend. His girlfriend (Grace) is good friends with the girl that was getting married. They were saying that they were leaving for Vegas on Sunday......May was going to go through some drills or something with the summer league team. Well one of my friends was saying yesterday that Grace was Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ing cause they never made it to Vegas.....instead they went to Utah. Supposedly he worked out for Sloan and had a physical. He's saying that if his tests are clean that he and Gerald are gone......for Carlos Boozer. Again, this is hearsay and probably false cause I haven't heard anything about this. Did Sean make it to Vegas? If this did come true I'll take it but what's Boozer's contract status?

Felton/Augustin
JRich/Carroll
Dudley/Morrison
Boozer/Davidson/Ajinca
Okafor/Nazr

First step in gaining credibility as a legit website:  don't link to posters on RealGM as sources of inside info.

(Oh, yeah, and the alleged trade is ridiculous.)

yeah, that's why I am hesitant to quote them and use disclaimers when I do - but to be fair, I would prefer to judge each writer individually instead of lumping the website in as a whole

I think we can generally trust Jessica Camerato as a well respected writer (she's a regular covering the team) but that doesn't mean the rest of the writers are credible

True, Jeff.  I should have said "Bill Ingram", since he's been the source of all the asinine stories linked above (and he's also the one who called drafting Emeka Okafor a major mistake, or something along those lines.)

haha.  How do you know that was his source?   It could be that CarolinaCash's story just confirms Ingram's rumor?  I dont know I am just wondering.
