Ugh.....

Well there goes my hope that front court depth would kill them.

Chemistry still can.

......And will.  Team will be a train wreck halfway into this season.

Let's hope so.  I think most of the guys on the team are solid, veteran role players who have bought into a role.  I don't think Bosh liked the pressure of being a #1, and Wade has shown that he can defer to an alpha dog.  At the same time, Lebron has shown that he needs somebody to take the heat off.

I think that the Heat team will be fine chemistry wise, but I definitely hope I'm wrong.

This, on paper, can be a 70 win team, no?

I think it could be.  I think they'll fall a little short of that mark only because I don't think they'll defensively gel very quickly.  However, on paper, this is by far the most talented team in the NBA.  They've got the two best players, and arguably another guy in the top ten.  They've got solid shooters and defenders, and guys who buy into a role.  If everything goes as it should, they'll roll to a championship.

That said, I'm hoping for the unexpected.

According to ESPN.com, the Heat are not going to offer Dampier a contract because they're already happy with the centers they have.

I have no idea why, considering Damp, even at 35, is better than any center they have on their roster.  But I'm not going to complain.

Perfect.  I'm pretty happy about that.  Dampier may have declined, but he's a heck of a lot better than Jamal Magloire.

Perhaps Dampier demanded too much playing time or a starting position ... short of that, I can't imagine why they'd turn him away.

I did not see this coming. The reported reasons that they were satisfied with their frontcourt depth are either bogus reports or indications that the Heat are alot higher on their roster than alot of us are.

Heat decide not to pursue Dampier

I am very excited by this news.. I feel had Miami signed Dampier as their starting center, it would have been tough for the C's to get past Miami now that they had a kendrick perkins-like defensive man in the middle.

This won't be an issue any more.

Our frontcourt (Perkins-O'Neal-O'Neal) vs. (Joel Anthony-Big Z-Juwan Howard). Are you kidding me??? This is like a bunch of 12th graders playing 1st graders in a game of street ball!

I see that as good news.  Maybe Damp is headed to Cleveland....

Me neither.

Their love affair with Joel Anthony mystifies me. Balding, can't score, can't rebound, can block shots a little.
