Game Notes

The Celtics continue their journey on their five game road trip as they take on the Phoenix Suns. Boston is coming off two tough defeats and will look to turn things around against the lowly Suns. This will be the last game of a five game homestand for Phoenix where they have lost 3 of their last 4 losing those three game by an average of just under 20 points per game. Their lone win was a 2 point win versus Memphis.

Phoenix is currently the 2nd worst team in the league and have the worst point differential in the league. The Suns made some strange acquisitions this offseason drafting DeAndre Ayton #1 and trading for rookie Mikal Bridges to add them to last year's draft pick Josh Jackson. But rather than committing to the youth movement, Phoenix traded for or signed some mid level veteran talent in Ryan Anderson, Trevor Ariza, and Jamal Crawford. The combo just hadn't worked out for Phoenix. The dysfunction that exists in the Phoenix front office and coaching has definitely found it's way to the NBA court.

Of course, Phoenix is led by their remarkable young SG, Devin Booker, who two years ago hung 70 points on the Celtics in what was a blowout loss until the Suns, correct that, Booker, made the score look like the game was closer than it really was. Booker is doing everything for Phoenix this year, apart from playing defense. He is putting up 24.9 points, 6 assists and 4.3 assists per game. Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart will have their hands full trying to contain Booker.

Also looking good on this terrible Suns team are rookies Ayton and Bridges. Ayton is looking like he will be a force under the basket for the Suns for years to come as he is already their second leading scorer at 15.9 points per game and is far and away their best rebounder with 10.9 rebounds per game. Meanwhile T. J. Warren and Mikal Bridges are giving good production for Phoenix from their small forward position.

The Celtics should rack up a win tonight if they continue their hot three point shooting they have had over the last three games, as they are shooting 39.1% from deep and their league best defense. The Celtics have great matchups at PG with Kyrie Irving and PF with Jayson Tatum and Marcus Morris. And if Al Horford can draw Ayton out of the paint, the Celtics may finally be able to get some points inside the paint with drives to the basket. Also look for a lot of drive and dish offense to wide open three point shooters. The Suns defense is just awful. Here's hoping for a nice easy Boston blowout.

Looking forward to seeing them get back on track against Phoenix (and looking forward to seeing Ayton play as well).
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

This should be an easy win so that means it will be a real battle. How many will Booker score? Will he outscore Murray from the other night?

Hoping the Jays have big games tonight.  I guess more importantly, hoping Terry plays well — can’t hurt the trade value for Terry to show up tonight.

I'm hoping for two things.

1.) Most importantly we win.

2.) Either Brown or RW3 catches a body. Specifically catches Ayton on a poster I can snag.
