I think a lot of people would say Star Wars for various reasons.

I always get a bit of a charge at the start of Last of the Mohicans.

The Other Guys.  Starts with a massive chase scene and then Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne Johnson just jump off the building you are like Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline..  Just an absolutely great opening sequence to a movie.

I have to ponder this.

How about Gangs of New York?  That was an awesome fight scene at the beginning of the movie.

Off the top of my head-
Apocalypse Now (Martin Sheen & The Doors)
The Conversation (long take in the park)
Jaws (The girl and the Shark)
Super Troopers (Do you know how fast you were going?)
Trainspotting (Iggy Pop and the running)
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

This is definitely one of my favorites.

I don't have a clear favorite, but the James Bond movies since Golden Eye have had the best intros that I can remember.
Still don't believe in Joe.

Inglorious Edited for profanity.  Please do not do it again.s is one of the more poignant opening scenes of all time (Django also sets the mood incredibly well).

The Dark Knight with the Joker's robbery, immediately introducing the best character in the movie.

Goldeneye as AG said, really good.

I don't remember the opening scene of the Departed. Hm.

Anyone ever seen The Way Of The Gun? That opening scene was pretty brutal.

Saving Private Ryan? Epic battle scene.

RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK???
