The Boston Celtics are unlikely to give up any of their first round picks in a trade for what would likely be a short-term rental due to the presence of the Warriors.

The Celtics will likely wait to explore the buyout market after the deadline.

Boston prefers to keep their first round picks for a larger scale move down the road.

The Celtics have stronger interest in Tyreke Evans than Lou Williams

The team should start looking at real estate possibilities for Anthony Davis.

Start looking at where we're gonna hang the next banner too

Of course, we'd rather Tyreke than Lou.
He has great size, is a better defender, 3 years younger.

We use Lou as a bluff to Memphis that we have a choice and to lower his price.
If others don't inflate it that is. But 1st rounders are hard to come by ATM and we have a late one to give.

Keeping the pick for a larger future move is just media talk to raise its price.
That 28th or 29th pick is available IMO.

I could see Danny trying to talk them into cash flow games.

Semi, Nader, $3M cash, future 2nd
<==>
Evans, Chalmers

Saves them over $4M this year, and returns two young guys who make a total of something like $8M combined over the next 3 years, for two expiring veterans. Helps them tank.

It's not a sexy offer, but who's offering a 1st or a useful player that will be around next year?

I hope we land Tyreke! He’ll be a perfect guy to come off the bench, along with Monroe!

Rozier, Smart, Tyreke, Monroe will be a strong supporting cast to round out a 9 man rotation. Theis and Semi and Larkin can get minutes depending on matchups and injury. I don’t know what we’ll have to give up but hopefully nothing much.

If NOP was actually considering trading AD, trading away their 1st to get Mirotic makes little sense.

Yes, good deal for Memphis, but not so much for Boston.  Chalmers is poison, stay far away...

Some here act like that pick is going to be the next Bill Russell.   I say win now as the odds are slim that the pick will anything more than a deep bench player.

I see the mindset as this, New Orleans has been on an uptick with without Cousins and it would be a betrayal to their current team and fan base if they just start the rebuild midseason this year.

Let's say NOP does the Celtics Blockbuster for Davis, I don't get the impression that they'd view it as a blow it up rebuild. Jaylen and Jayson have proven that their ready to contribute to winning basketball regardless of the situation and if Al was involved in the trade (LA/Kings Pick, Horford, Jaylen or Tatum) they would be looking to compete in the West from day 1.

Mirotic has value to a post Davis Pelicans team who I'd imagine would be content as a 45+ win perennial playoff contender.

What about Al Horford, Jaylen brown, and the Los Angeles Lakers/kings pick and one more first for Davis.

For the pelicans, adding Horford and Brown to Mirotic and Holliday, And that is at least a pretty good starting four - with a chance of getting another future all star in the draft.

On our side, Irving, Hayward, Davis, and Tatum is a legitimate big four. That lineup is clearly a contender. If we pick up Tyreke he might play the two. But honestly with those four, we should be able to work something out.

DA has always operated with MO that he won't give up future assets for rentals. I get that, but for me, finals appearance this year (meaning Tyreke for the pick) is more valuable in the long term than 28th selection in the draft.

Agree with this. The 28th pick in this draft has no future value unless it's traded for a future 1st so why not use it for this year's run and Tyreke.
