I will trust ainge on Williams. I don’t know about his game but just watched a few videos. Seems to have zero offensive game beyon 4 feet from the basket.  Aside from blocks it was hard to judge his defensem but he could be a good defender, a lot of athleticism it seems.

But zero 3 pointers and p--- poor free throws.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Don’t know if there’s a seller at this point, but there are some good players available.

What a steal! And we wanted to trade up to get him. Can’t believe Lakers took Wagner.

Replacement for Kuzma who will be dealt in the off season for another addition via trade to create a Dream Team that Magic wants to build with his huge war chest.

Schmitz: Along with Walker, Williams has the potential to be the steal of the draft at No. 27 -- the same draft slot of a similar lob-catching, shot-blocking center in Clint Capela. While there are clear questions about Williams' motor, the rangy big man is without a doubt a top-10 caliber talent when fully engaged.

He's much more suited for the open NBA game than the role he played as a power forward with clogged paint at Texas A&M. Boston is the exact environment that Williams needs to rev up his focus and commitment to his craft. The Celtics could also really use a big in Williams' mold, as he'll be a tremendous lob threat for Kyrie Irving and the rest of Boston's offensive weapons.

TP......couldn’t be more pumped about how lucky we are.
The clogged paint was only part of the story.  They had a shoot first freshman point guard who sometimes took more shots in the game than their two very good bigs, Davis and Williams, combined.  Their other guards/wings were lousy passers too.

Al
Baynes
Williams
Theis

Four legit bigs that they can throw at teams

I wouldn’t expect Baynes back at this point.

Depends on the money. They need 4 bigs and Monroe has to be gone.

Monroe just isn't alot of athletic help against the top 6 teams quick young bigs .  We need playoff athletic types .  Monroe punishes bad teams , but looked poor against the creme of NBA.

Williams looks better in some respects than Zizic .

Theis will be a huge help resting Al next year .

Baynes is a must ...hvae to hvae the brute to control over he paint some.

We needed someone to defend Embiid.

Then Robinson should have been the pick.  Kid with the size, talent an upside who could turn out to be better than Embiid (yeah, it's a bold statement but I stand by it) but his downside is being a substandard Olowokandi.  Guess the risk assessment was too much for Danny (and especially the Wycs') to handle.

Post-Draft Analysis
Danny Ainge does it again. The rich get richer, as the Celtics add the No. 12 player in the ESPN 100 all the way down at the 27th pick. Concerns about Williams' off-court habits and some question marks about his knee sank his stock, but this might end up being the steal of the draft.

Williams' ability to protect the rim is something the Celtics covet, and he's now in a perfect situation to continue to develop his basketball IQ in one of the NBA's best cultures and player-development systems. -- Jonathan Givony
