This isn't about Bob Cousy in his prime with Sam Jones in his prime it's about...

"in the ____ season these two guys together formed the best backcourt"

'57 Cousy and Sharman: 41pts, 11ast, 10reb; Championship. Cousy was league MVP.

'68 Havlicek and Jones: 42pts, 8ast, 12reb; Championship.

'72 Havlicek and White: 50pts, 13ast, 13reb; Lost in ECF

'87 DJ and Ainge: 28pts, 13ast, 7reb; Lost in Finals (7 games)

'10 Rondo and Ray: 30pts, 13ast, 8reb; ?

It really is a shame that the 72 team couldn't get that championship.

Although that Knick team was STACKED. Walt Frazier, Willis Reed, Earl Monroe, Bill Bradley, Dave Debusscherre, Jerry Lucas... I'd rather they win than the Lakers.

Cousey and Sharman without a doubt ... "smooth" defined, (Havlicek and White a close second).

I might go with Havlicek/Jones.  I'm too young to know for sure, but from everything I heard, Sam Jones was probably the most underrated Celtic of all time and deserves to mentioned with all time greats like Hondo, Cousy, McHale, etc.

Given that I'd put Hondo and Cousy on the same level, I'd put the Hondo/Jones over the other two, since from everything I've heard, Jones was better than JoJo and Sharman.

Why didn't you the championship year for Ray and Rondo?  They did win one together.

Sam Jones is one of the greats. He might be the most under looked player in Celtic history. If he played for ANY other team he'd be one of the top 2 in their history.

The option is this year's back court, not the championship season.

I can't see how anyone who knows C's history could pick either the '10 or '87 backcourts above the others.

If I remember right, the '72 backcourt was Jojo White and Don Chaney.  Havlicek and Don Nelson were the forwards

Correct. 1972 backcourt White/Chaney, but 1968 bakcourt Siegfried/Jones. Hondo starting on forward.
Easily Couy/Sharman...
Cousy was THE point guard of the era, and Sharman was 4 time first team NBA and greatest shooter of the era.
